Here’s what is happening in my office today.

Everyone that is here has to be on ips or sorting packets and then throwing rounds in , no one is doing a delivery today because we’re essentially sorting through the backlog …..well done the cwu

So nobody is going outdoors. Exactly the same as calling off the pickets and staying indoors at home would have done.

im not a rep but the amount of messages and phone calls i received last night asking if it was true that it had been cancelled as they had received a message from a manger telling them to return to work today ? , and also the same bloke was sending messages to posties whos day off today ( friday ) asking if they wanted to work and he would change there day off to thursday so they would get paid , this is f***ing disgusting imo .

According to the Royal Mail site, CWU members are on strike 30th September and 1st October. First I’ve heard about it:

This subject raises several points. The first is: WHY does your manager have your PRIVATE phone number?

It seems that some people just give their PRIVATE number to anyone at the drop of a hat. I don't give my number to my Manager and then he can't phone me up in this type of situation.

Secondly: IF ROYAL Mail wanted to show some RESPECT to the Queen they could have given us the day off with FULL PAY to show ours, and their, RESPECT in our own way! But oh no they're quite happy to play on the ROYAL angle, but it basically means bugger all to them.

I'd be interested to know if the Businesss intends to close, as a mark of RESPECT for the Queen's Funeral. If they don't I'll be taking it off anyway... just like tomorrow! If Simple Simon wants to do something useful rustle up some Black Armbands and get them issued PDQ like the facemasks were.

Firstly, whoever people give their personal phone number to is of no concern to you whatsoever - all you need to do is worry about who you give YOUR number to. You have no idea if some employees have a personal problem that you don't know about and may need to contact the manager at short notice? But whatever the reason, it is still their personal number to give to who they want.

Secondly, you want RM to give you a day off with full pay for the funeral. Whether that is done or not we'll wait to see, but there are so many professions who would LIKE a day off with pay but cannot, parademics? police? fire service? retail sector? petrol garages? News channels?

Given that the current situation between RM and the CWU is all out war, it's unlikely that Super Si is going to give you a day off with pay for the funeral, the most I think you can hope for is a choice of whether you work or not, but if you decide not to work you will not be paid, but it won't go on your absence record.

Undoubtedly. Alongside the non operational managers who were planned to assist in that operation.

The CWU calling off the strike yesterday was just a gesture.
A lot in my unit do not feel like they have been properly represented in that decision

Absolutely no chance. If they would have considered cancelling anything they would have told strike breakers that Friday was cancelled

One of the managers who got made up, not my manager was ringing me this morning, then some random numbers ringing me, now all blocked, bet old Simon laughing his b*llocks off

Who went in today? I decided during the night that I wasn’t going in. Turned off my mobile and answering machine, went back to bed! I’ll deal with the fallout when I go back next week. No manager even called or texted me last night about the strike being off.

I’d say about 60% made it in today. Wasn’t going to come in myself, but decided to brave it. Wanted to cancel my CWU membership first thing but the rep decided to stay home.

If ever there were a time to display a bit of conviction, to be steadfast, this was it. But apparently “optics” and “public feeling” supersedes the long-term well-being and security of union members. Anybody still funding these charlatans after today (and especially anybody on picket lines) is brain-dead.

So far locally not heard a thing from the CWU or the local resource unit. Anyone who's avoiding the news and isn't on social media won't know the strikes have been called off. Some offices will probably find that most of their staff aren't in where the staff haven't been informed about the strikes being called off
