Some of the posts on here are unbelievable.
I’m actually embarrassed with some of people I have to call colleagues.
Not surprised by the likes of Norris, but very surprised by Woody and others.
You do realise that this board is not a cross section of Royal Mail employees? Most have no idea what is really going on. The people on here are more informed and certainly more militant.
I’d bet my last £1 that the vast majority think this is the correct decision.

They would attack us to the media and public that at a time when the uk is in mourning we work for the Royal Mail and Queens head is on all the stamps that we still went out on strike the very next day of her death.

So are you going to attack Royal Mail for forcing posties out onto the street delivering pizza leaflets when the UK is in national mourning during these unprecedented times?

If the Queen had died at 2am tomorrow morning the strike would have gone ahead.

You guys have picked an arbitrary time and decided that's plenty notice for calling off a strike because well it doesn't really affect you, you've pissed off a large chunk of the membership and you've left guys like me deep in the s**t trying to sort things out and mend fences.

Spot on - this is an absolutely huge mistake, honestly can't believe the union called it off - pressure is now off RM completely and the union has f****d off the membership they're relying on to walk out come the 30th.

The union seem to only care about public ‘optics’ on this and not whether the members wanted it cancelled. All of my picket line buddies think the decision is f*cked. The blind admiration for one privileged woman only there through bloodline is staggering..

Ever since this dispute began the CWU and its members have been pulling all the strings trying to muster up public support.

So YES, they ARE caring about the public optics and protecting the support they already have by the decision they have made this evening. This is a unique situation where for once you need to look further than the end of your nose.

I don't think so. If you think this through it really is the best of both worlds. We keep our image and support with the public, whilst we've basically been given the green light to not show for work. I believe it will be a minority who will choose to work, so the impact will not be lost.

For anyone who supports calling off the strike, what do you imagine happens now that the CWU have set the precedent we won't strike due to her death?

RM are going to use this as the perfect excuse to push forward with their agenda, and the CWU have set themselves up to be powerless.

What happens when at the end of the week, RM take executive action to move deliveries back 3 hours to get rid of the flights - are the CWU going to walk out on the day of the Queens funeral?

What happens when RM then take further executive action? the CWU don't dare strike, because they've set the precedent we won't strike.

The CWU quite literally just dropped trouser and bent over - they've given Simon and co carte blanche to take whatever executive action they want, because the CWU won't strike due to the Queens death.
