So if anyone decides to NOT go in tomorrow - ie, take unpaid leave - will they still have to give a reason to their manager when they inevitably call early morning?

Surely the managers should not be calling up people who aren't in tomorrow that are 'supposed' to be. Harassing people to come in after the queen has passed. Should be your own choice.

In fact - Royal Mail should have said - 'feel free to have the day off unpaid if you are not feeling up to it after this sad news'..... but they didn't and they wouldn't - would they.

The union seem to only care about public ‘optics’ on this and not whether the members wanted it cancelled. All of my picket line buddies think the decision is f*cked. The blind admiration for one privileged woman only there through bloodline is staggering..

I’m no royalist, However we’d have been ripped to shreds by the media if we’d have stayed out tomorrow. Simon Thompson would’ve had plenty to say too. We have the moral upper hand here.

Also a strike can be called off at any time, you should always be prepared to be able to go back into work, it’s not a day off. You should be on the picket lines anyway.

They don’t, we’re winning the media argument and the public support. I’ve never seen any of our strikes be so successful. We’re winning this.

Besides it’ll still be chaos tomorrow and loads will still blob and take unpaid leave. It’ll push the dispute closer to Black Friday too.

Some of the posts on here are unbelievable.
I’m actually embarrassed with some of people I have to call colleagues.
Not surprised by the likes of Norris, but very surprised by Woody and others.
You do realise that this board is not a cross section of Royal Mail employees? Most have no idea what is really going on. The people on here are more informed and certainly more militant.
I’d bet my last £1 that the vast majority think this is the correct decision.
