Ricky Says
Message from Ricky McAulay: Notice of further damaging industrial action
We have received notification of further damaging industrial action from the CWU from 4am on Friday 30 September to 03.59 Sunday 2 October.
We have already experienced two days of highly disruptive national strikes with a further two days tomorrow and Friday. Strike action is not good for our customers and it is not good for you. Strike action is making you worse off, at a time you need to be better off.
We have been very clear with you how damaging strike action is for our business. Sadly, we are being proved right - our retail customers have already started to switch volumes to our competitors and there is no guarantee that business will come back. Every day of strike action is a day our business gets worse, and our competitors get stronger. Make no mistake, we are gifting them competitive advantage.
We are already losing £1 million a day. Strike action has weakened our financial position even further and is threatening long-term job security.
The CWU has a responsibility to recognise the reality of the situation we face as a business and engage urgently on the changes required. The union has offered to issue a joint statement to provide a “period of calm”. The reality is, they are asking us to agree to a set of unworkable pre-conditions that restrict the changes we need to help us compete and grow and continue to provide the best terms and conditions in the industry. We can only talk about change alongside pay. And the more we change the more we can pay.
We will continue to put our contingency plans into action so that we can minimise disruption as much as possible for our customers during industrial action.
We continue to do all we can to keep people, businesses and the country connected.

RMCtv : Message from Ricky 'I'll say it again' McAulay: Notice of further damaging industrial action
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

How can the strikes be damaging?
The supposed £1M a day loss is still the same - come on pRicky think of a new figure FFS, otherwise people will think it's bullshit.

They bang on about providing the best T&C's in one sentence, then the second they want annualised hours, Sundays as normal working day, reduced sick leave policy, less pay for new starts, later starts....the list goes on

If striking wasnt a threat to the business then it would serve no purpose would it?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

We have been very clear with you that we will continue, through strike action, to encourage your retail parcel customers to switch their parcel volumes to your competitors until you stop living in cloud cuckoo land and make realistic proposals that are acceptable to your workforce. We have been very clear with you how damaging strike action is for our business. Sadly, we are being proved right - our retail customers have already started to switch volumes to our competitors and there is no guarantee that business will come back.
