Surety it works both ways been told there is no ot because of the strike but seems every office is different I’m hoping the union are more clever than Royal Mail but I doubt it very much they have thousands to throw at it and catch us out

As a rule striking workers do not get paid by there employers. If the industrial action being taken is santioned by the Trade union then the union has funds that ensure that the workers are paid for there actions. This may not be as much as the worker would have got but it might be in the long term. Do workers gain lost wages after a strike?
ALL THIS FROM A MOUTHPIECE WHO WANTS STRIKES TO GO ON FOREVER FFS NOW HE WANTS PAID FOR STRIKING  just go in with the few agency staff an earn your days pay an forever be ashamed.

I’m sure the CWU could set up a strike fund if everyone was happy to up their subs to say £10 a week. Maybe the people calling to be paid by the union should propose it.

This was a quote from TUC and RMT files not mine
Paying people something from a strike fund would encourage more to take action and for longer when troops start to waver
Not rocket science really
Yes I would like action to be longer as 1 or 2 day strikes are not going to change or stop nothing as been proved in the past
I dont agree with overtime running parallel with strike action madness and self defeating
I would never cross a picket line as I will probably be on it to the last as well

What you don't seem to be understanding is that this isn't a game, this is serious, your pushing for a longer strike would be the undoing of us all, if people have to decide between feeding their family or striking then, without doubt an all out strike would crumble after only a few days, people would start coming back and within the week the office's would have the majority of staff back and then RM could bring in all the crazy stuff they want and there would be nothing we could do! The managed, one day here, one day there strikes do what they are designed to do, piss shareholders off, piss our large customers off and hopefully force the so called management back round the table, and as for your ludicrous statement " 1 or 2 strikes are not going to change or stop nothing as been proved in the past" where's your evidence for this? Was it something your Neighbour told you???

Unfortunatley your talking to people who enjoy striking, you wont be able to reason with them.
Most people just want the whole issue sorting quickly and get back to working nrmally, but there will always be some disruptive people who will do what they cant to cause a strike.

Royal Mail seem to be clutching at straws trying to get ballots invalidated due to unofficial action - overtime bans.
In guidance for COM before strikes it was stated no overtime pressure was to be paid after strikes as they did not want to reward those taking action.
Now offices are up sh***s creek they want to look for things to invalidate ballots.
I have been on an overtime ban for years though but was never an issue

Also now getting issue of staff not wanting to work rest days as workload too much due to strike and non clearance

exactly this.

People have been selective about what type of overtime they do in RM for years. Also, many people only really work OT during the lighter/summer months. We are in that 'in between' time just before things get really, really busy and 2-3 days worth of mail is understandably going to make it far less attractive.

overtime is a choice. if you want to help with strikes then you know what to do.
Unfortunately for a great many part time worker employed on 25 or 27.5 hour contracts, it isn't always a "Choice" but a necessity.

I for one am very proud of the Part timers that are supporting the strike. Theirs is a bigger burden.

The low hours/ poorly paid workforce because of that, is something the Union (Us) have allowed to happen over the last 10 years or more.

Brains over brawn.

Or the best of both worlds and go rolling strikes with instruction to cross pickets until it’s your turn..

again it gets tiresome of pointing it out, when i was employed by rm it took me around 13yrs to get a duty and 14yrs ish to get to ft but i always knew/factored in living on pt wages including annual leave & past strikes, and unless new we still get the same hourly rate, the pt/ft rift is in your own heads, if you took a pt job, expect to live on it when necessary, they seem to have a free pass regards snide comments by doing early overtime when those doing late overtime get grief
lets get one thing clear, the cwuhq are at fault for not at least adding an overtime ban option in the last ballot
without that you can absolutely not chastise some ft for doing an hour after clearing something up when almost every pt is in 1hr early on overtime without nothing said, we should be in this together but our inept cwu are now causing in-house fighting,
but please, you cannot say it's totally acceptable for a pt who is used to living on ft37hrs is correct but any ft living on 42 is wrong, absolutely no difference in the situation

My DO has basically been "Business as usual" Since the first 2 days of Strikes we've had one quite day and apart from that it's been fairly busy or bloody busy.

Quite a few of those worried about cash have been working their days off to cover the loss, I think that makes sense, and the majority have been taking lapsing and booking pressure OT if required (all helps your Strike Fund) :thumbup

Ironically the only ones I've heard bitching about how busy it is and shouting about cutting off and bringing mail back were the assholes that worked the last 2 days of Strikes.... Beggars Belief .... unfortunately nobody was listening to them! :cuppa
