I wonder if he'd be happy for, say, his daughter to deliver mail on her own in the dark.
We have half a dozen twenty something females in our office.
The "we've done it before" comment harks back to when the first letter was 6.50am.
The difference being it was light less than an hour later.
It's a total non starter.

I am not sure they want these changes to come in. They seem like a delay tactic to get the takeover done behind our backs while we strike. As the CWU say - the rules on how we get the 2% bonus have not even been set out by Royal Mail.
They are trying for this takeover, but I am not sure what that means if they go for it. The government are looking into the situation and I guess they can scupper it if they think the guy wanting to buy RM up is potentially harmful.
Also, if RM think they need 115,000 staff after any such takeover, but want to retain all/most of us, then they could risk losing a massive chunk of us if they force us to sign a new levelling down contract. I don't think they will cope if they lost 30%+ of us.

So let me get this straight, there'll be no more cutting off, you have to finish what you got on any given day and if you go over it has to be agreed by a manager that it was legitimate and that time then gets banked and you don't get it as O/T until you've hit a certain threshold?
Who and what decides exactly how long your delivery actually is and how the hell is someone going to prove that it is wrong and it's going to take longer?
Talk about something being massively open to abuse by incompetent unscrupulous managers and I thought forced overtime was illegal!
How the hell are OPG's meant to arrange their lives outside of work especially if they have childcare to factor in.
Why are these clowns being paid to come up with crackpot unworkable ideas like this when they've never been able to implement a single revision in the last decade that's worked.
So many things wrong with this it beggars belief.

Overtime pay
Employers do not have to pay workers for overtime. However, your average pay for the total hours you work must not fall below the National Minimum Wage.
Your employment contract will usually include details of any overtime pay rates and how they’re worked out.
Compulsory overtime
You only have to work overtime if your contract says so.
Even if it does, by law, you cannot usually be forced to work more than an average of 48 hours per week. You can agree to work longer - but this agreement must be in writing and signed by you.
Unless your contract guarantees you overtime, your employer can stop you from working it.
However, your employer cannot discriminate against anyone, for example by stopping some employees from working overtime while letting others do so.

Are you suggesting that as long as our hours worked are not so that we still earn minimum wage then we’ll essentially be working for minimum wage with forced overtime ?2yearpostie wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 11:51https://www.gov.uk/overtime-your-rightsFannybaws wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 11:47So let me get this straight, there'll be no more cutting off, you have to finish what you got on any given day and if you go over it has to be agreed by a manager that it was legitimate and that time then gets banked and you don't get it as O/T until you've hit a certain threshold?

That’s a massive pay cut.

Plus we have a contract stating how many hours we should work a year.Pidleypoo wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 12:31Are you suggesting that as long as our hours worked are not so that we still earn minimum wage then we’ll essentially be working for minimum wage with forced overtime ?2yearpostie wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 11:51https://www.gov.uk/overtime-your-rightsFannybaws wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 11:47So let me get this straight, there'll be no more cutting off, you have to finish what you got on any given day and if you go over it has to be agreed by a manager that it was legitimate and that time then gets banked and you don't get it as O/T until you've hit a certain threshold?

Not having a finishing time would finish someone who took the job because of the part time hours who work no overtime, I believe the future workforce will be mainly eastern block workers.

It really is worrying how people up the food chain don't grasp the concept of in the morning when it's dark it gets lighter the longer you are out on route but in the evening the opposite occurs mind I suppose most are in front of their tellies by 4pm and unaware of this outrageous act of natureWoody Guthrie wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 21:03I'm getting really tired of this s**t.he further goes on to say we've done it before.
If you can't tell the difference in the dangers of delivering in the morning in the dark and delivering at night in the dark just shut the f**k up.

Surely if we had “commit deliver” the walks would have to be made achievable, which would mean shorter walks & less mail?

Stay out till you finish what happens if the road is shut down for 12 hours because of the police are you really going to cross that line? More bullshit by people who should know better at the management of the company if it was was not for us they would not have any jobs now!
