If you are against us then don't expect me to shoot the breeze with you, swap a day off or holidays or do anything whatsoever to make your life pleasant at work.
I think that's about the limit of what you can do. We all know we can't abuse Strike Breakers, and will drop ourselves in the shite if we do.
TBH I just cannot be bothered to interact with these people, I've always been the same, if someone gets on my tits I just ignore them. So it won't be too hard to do this in the future because the guys who are Strike Breaking ... I've already been ignoring for years!
It does make me wonder though how some people can stand on a picket line, watch these guys cross it (get paid for doing very little while they're losing a days wage) and then happily laugh & joke with them the following day. Perhaps they're just more magnanimous than me.
A sensible and reasoned post, as always. We had two cross Friday, one today. When the dust settles, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and seek their reasons why. If they don't have any or the ones proffered can be swatted aside by my having advised them since the end of April to work some days off or get some overtime in because it's all coming on top....then my future interaction shall be polite, but extremely limited.
Magnanimous....didn't he present Mastermind when we were kids?
i know we are out for 2 days next week , but do the cwu still have to give 2 weeks notice for more i/a, ? , and i havent heard about any more notice being served to the company to keep this rolling on and keep the pressure on and not give the company time to catch up as then any i/a would have been a waste of time then.

There isn't any catching up to do.
This strike is about potential reputational damage and bulk customer confidence leading to shareholder and customer pressure to resolve the dispute.
It isn't about creating a backlog.
Those days are gone.
Next week's two day strike might cause some kind of backlog but to be honest with mail volumes this low it would take two weeks solid to cause any serious issues.
People calling for more days really don't understand what's important here, we could go out for a week and by day 3 people would start funneling back to work, then you're totally screwed.
We need to be able to sustain this action right through Christmas if necessary and if that means having weeks on and weeks off that's what we need to do.

I was on the picket line yesterday at our DO. Luckily, I don`t have the financial pressure of mortgage/kids, so although I was disappointed by those crossing the picket line, I can understand why.
This morning was a little tense.
Part of the reason I enjoy the job, is the good atmosphere in the DO. Given that I`m a reserve, I don`t want to be souring that atmosphere with people I might be working with next week. I didn`t go out of my way to talk to them, but if they spoke to me, I was civil and light-hearted in return. The job gets tougher, so any light-hearted relief is most welcome. I won`t forget what they did though.

Well said - I think people need to realise that the only way we hurt RM now is not by creating backlogs or issues at the DO; the C-Suite couldn't give two sh***s if little old Mabel gets her NHS appointment letter a week late, despite all their banging on about it - that's just pure PR for the Daily Mail boomer crowd.
It's about the big account customers deciding not to post with us because a strike will delay their items - and the closer we get to November with it unresolved (and the closer to things like Black Friday, Cyber Week, Xmas etc) the more pressure there is on them to resolve it.
We've all got to be ready for the long haul, and while striking a few days here and there doesn't seem like much, the damage is being done - the longer this drags on, the riskier it is for those big companies to stick with RM and the more pressure there is on Simon to resolve the issue.

well your office must be different to ours as there was yorks of mail left from tuesday and what ever came back off deliverys strike weds and posties finishing on time today so mail and parcels left again , so yes it does cause a backlog with stuff rolling over day to day and posties just working there hours . and saying that people dont understand the importance ? , yes we do and you need to keep the wagon rolling regardless as its s**t or bust and its not just about pay either as we have a massive mandate for the changes .
yes we do and you need to keep the wagon rolling regardless
Regardless of whether people start crossing the picket line and going back to work because they can't afford the cost of being on your wagon?
This dispute requires intelligence and it definitely needs longevity, it doesn't need a gung ho, let's see how quickly we can starve out our own members attitude.
Today the manager told me they had 8 agency workers coming in at 2 o clock and there was nothing for them to do, he told me last week he asked 2 of them to tidy up the yard, royal mail throwing money down the drain.
yes we do and you need to keep the wagon rolling regardless

as we all know theres more to lose than a few days pay and nobody can afford to lose money inc me , but i will tell yeh these people running the company dont care and will just try and railroad changes in , then see where we stand , so what i am saying serve them notice for more i/a doesnt mean you would strike and would put more pressure on the people at the top , and is it still law that a i/a ballot only lasts 6 month before you have to do another ?
