I seriously doubt doing the job properly is the issue, in fact it's probably those very people he intends to target with this.

Yes because it's the runners that he's using as the "gold standard" so if everyone was to do the job properly that would go a long way to sorting that problem out.

Need more people in this company to just "quietly quit" and stop doing work for free.

We made about an hour of time but if we’d have used trolleys and walked at a normal pace rather than pretty much speed walking (yes we’re idiots but hey ho) we could easily have gone over our time.

There is no hope.............you have already proved there is plenty of scope for more work on your delivery. If you were paying someone by the hour and they went home an hour early I think you would be a bit pissed

This is one of the hardest jobs to “quietly quit”. Its not as if it goes unnoticed when we cut off. Its not the same as working in some office where your work is an ongoing thing and theres not a set amount of work that HAS to be got through that day.

Hence my observation that we are idiots. To be quite honest yesterday was one of my days i often have where the only way ill get through it is to go as fast as i can- sort of like ripping a plaster off quickly to get it over with. By the end of the delivery i was literally on my last legs.

i cant see how that Thompson can say are too slow if nobody has even tested the rounds which have increased 2 or 3 times since I have been at RM.
The computer doesn't know if you are walking uphill or on the level ,whether your customers are elderly in your area, or have a lot of low letterboxes just for starters.
We are getting out an hour later at the moment due to 6 fulltime duties unfilled in a 30 person Delivery Office and then they want us to lapse 6 rounds so it only leaves 2 hours 40 mins to finish my round and do all the tracked items on the other round..
If I am doing only half at roughly 4 mph , that would mean I would have to be doing 8mph for the whole round to finish it .
In other words run round .
At over 60 is that what he wants , that Thompson guy can shove it.
I am doing the same speed I have always done for 25 years and suddenly this twat says I am slow

To get it over with as soon as possible. Going slowly is almost as painful so id rather just get it done.

This is not how i am everyday, just the odd day here or there where i feel like mu only option is to go as fast as i can.

I used to be a bit like that on the odd day. Might have a far out special delivery, so chacing the clock speeds the shift up. Not anymore. All motivation and adrenaline has gone now with recent events.

Heart rate is not going mad, not sweating as much in the heat. It takes as long as it takes and less chance of pulling a muscle or making a mistake . You should try it.
