I've seen posters they've put up in our office, some in view of the public, saying nothing but the words: "They're taking the piss!"

I’m sure that the public will see far worse on their own social media. The only ones likely to be offended have already made their views known on the Daily Mail, Telegraph, The Express and The Sun

It's not about who might be offended. It's us who ought to be offended. It's a matter of professionalism and image. It looks, at least to me, like children squabbling. It's adults resorting to mud-slinging, name calling and childish mockery while also at least nominally claiming to represent over 100,000 others in a professional capacity. Those who are being represented may not wish to have their voice debased in that way.

I expect our union officials to be professional. If some idiot employed by the union is allowed to post stuff like this without being disciplined for doing so then how are we supposed to have faith that the negotiations are actually being handled in a professional manner.

Personally, I am not impressed by that bloke who announces all the streams as they happen, let us know at the bottom that you support the union, type whatever it takes. blah blah, I just want the facts, I don't want the dramatics, it's a serious matter, not playing effing games. He might be, he isn't risking anything. I support my union, I will take the action, I won't play stupid games on social media, guy needs to grow up. Mick Lynch is so much more professional.

You are right it's infantile at best. I remember when we were all told to flood our screens with messages something along the lines of "Vote Yes" (I can't remember exactly as I didn't participate as I'm not on the workplace meta platform) during a live video broadcast by Simon Thompson.
I seem to think that's when this started. The problem is that colleagues are at a genuine risk of unwittingly crossing the line with social media comments.
The CWU negotiating team and representatives are the ones who should be defending us in a constructive way.
The strikes are the most that should be asked for us after the vote, or possibly work to rule motions or wherever we and the union agree on within the legal framework allowed.
Social media can be toxic anyway, but in this particular context people are at real risk of not only getting themselves in serious trouble, but undermining the message also.

TRANSPORT UNION RMT today set out six key reasons why it will be advising members to vote to the leave the EU in the forthcoming referendum:

1. Leave the EU to end attacks on rail workers

New EU rail policies are set to further entrench rail privatisation and fragmentation. That will also mean more attacks or jobs and conditions and EU laws will make it impossible to bring all of rail back into public ownership.

So how has that worked out for the RMT members?

Given that his union advised its members to back the fascists Farage, Rees Mogg et al and consequently put in place the right wing government of Johnson (and Truss?) I find it laughable that he is now paraded as some sort of working class hero.

Chris has transformed the communications of the union. Members get more updates now then they have ever done.

Yes I get some may not like some of the stuff but many do like the idea that we are all in this together. You just have to see how many members watch live to see how much interest there is.

Additionally when Webby asks the members to post something whilst watching thousands do.

He don’t need me to defend him as he is considered as one of the best communications officers in the Trade union movement.

Mick Lynch is a top bloke and has been brilliantly during the RMT dispute but he will be the first to state that he was relatively unknown prior to the first strike and let’s be honest when you can bring the transport system to an halt you are gong to get the media coverage.

There was nowhere near the same media coverage for the BT dispute as the media and public did not see the same impact.

There will be more coverage for the Royal Mail dispute but not on the same scale as the RMT. However our strike may delay the Tory Leadership Election so will be of media interest and both Dave and Terry will be putting our case to the media forward.
