Parcel Collect Enhancements - £0 Period - Deliveries

Over the past few months, we have been busy developing and deploying improvements and updates to the service. We have made changes to the back-end systems to allow third parties to access Parcel Collect through their own portals, which has helped drive more customers towards using Parcel Collect.

We have also stepped up our customer marketing and communications regarding Parcel Collect, with door-to-door leaflets, messaging on postage labels, an improved customer journey on our website and app, and our CSP colleagues have also begun to have conversations with posting customers about the service.

To encourage customers to try Parcel Collect, from 16th August introducing a 6 month period where there will be no charge for using Parcel Collect service. This is for all online RM postage purchases (ends 31/12/2022) and Tracked Returns (ends 16/2/2023)

There will be no change required to how you currently handle Parcel Collect items today, however it is envisaged that there will be an increase in volume of Parcel Collect items in Delivery Offices.

Due to envisaged volume increases, we’d like to highlight the guide that outlines how to manage increasing volume and ensure that the Parcel Collect workload is manageable.
This is accessible on the intranet via the Parcel Collect Sharepoint.

Throughout this period, volumes of Parcel Collect will be monitored and fed back to yourselves, via further communications.
If you have any questions or feedback about this enhancement to Parcel Collect, email us at centralopssolutions@royalmail.com

Parcel Collect Enhancements – £0 & Frictionless

Today we launched one of our biggest promotions; customers will get a Parcel Collection for £0 on all domestic and international products.
This promotion further enhances the recent Integrated Tracked Non-Account Product we launched in May 2022
The promotion is available to both our business customers (existing and new) for their Tracked Returns 24 and 48 products as well as our consumers sending outbound items.

The Parcel Collect business customer promotion will last 6 months, ending February 16th 2023. The Parcel Collect consumer promotion will end December 31st 2022.

The reason for this promotion is because still not enough of our customers know about this great service, and of those do who know not enough have tried it yet. We believe this promotion will give customers an incentive to try it out and change their posting habits. We firmly believe that once they try it they will see what an amazing service it is and the business will grow.

The majority of our customers are happy with the service and the main reason they give for such satisfaction is their postie and the positive interaction they have with you; we need to own the doorstep so please keep this up, it’s great to hear.

You will see a significant amount of marketing to promote this new offer by Royal Mail and also by some of our larger business customers on their websites such as Amazon and eBay, but we still need your help to promote the service. Please tell your friends and family about this incredible promotion on our hugely convenient Parcel Collect service.

You guys have great, helpful and constructive ideas, because you are out there doing the job and meeting customers every day. So, please let us know your thoughts on how to make the service even better for our customers and how you think we can improve getting the message out there.
Below are some images of how the promotion will be promoted within Click & Drop.

Parcel Collect is now £0 until the end of 2022

Royal Mail’s Parcel Collect service is now £0* until the end of December and booking it has become even easier.

With Parcel Collect, customers arrange for their postie to collect their parcel from their doorstep. Customers sending or returning a parcel on the Royal Mail app or website will have a convenient collection automatically booked for them.

Chief commercial officer Nick Landon says the service has been incredibly successful since it was launched.

'Everyone knows when their postie delivers so it’s really convenient to arrange for them to collect anything that needs to be sent or returned at the same time,' he said.

'We can collect from a safe place if customers aren’t going to be in and who better to do that safely than the postie who knows you and your home. To top it off, if you don’t have a printer just let us know and we’ll bring the label with us. Parcel Collect is part of our commitment to continuously make our services more convenient as we re-invent the way we deliver to and from our customers.'

Customers can send a parcel, or book a collection if they already have a label, through the Royal Mail app or online (https://www.royalmail.com/collection).

*PARCEL COLLECT IS CHARGED AT £0.00 WHEN YOU BOOK ONLINE BETWEEN 00:01 ON 16.08.2022 AND 23:59 ON 31.12.2022.

Had another one these collections today ( we generally get 1 or 2 ) as per usual it was on the wrong PDA and the label was just normal paper.... I attached it with an elastic band.

Dear Simon, In the last 2 weeks I've had 4 parcel collects from the same address.

Each and every single time the customer hasn't had the parcel and didn't know what the hell I was on about.

Wrong PDA? If you're working as a pair and your partner has the collection on their PDA but it's you collecting it, before you
go out just scan their DELIVERY route through Manage Parcel Collect on your PDA and the item will then appear for collection on your PDA. It will
clear off your PDA when you collect it but will still be on theirs but it clears overnight.

Past 2 weeks I've had 7 collects, of those...
3 were booked through a third party: customers have Emails saying RM will bring a label but we get it through as customer printed their own. Can't collect
1 had been cancelled the day before but we didn't get that memo
1 had been booked "accidentally" by someone who claimed via the ring doorbell, to be in Spain
2 went fine

Maybe they could charge customers for this and then pay us more… just a thought. Plenty of collect jobs coming through on the PDA that are either not labelled or they’ve already given it to a parcel driver. Really need to sort the pda system out to make this work smoothly.

And make sure people on HCT duties only get small parcels to collect. I am pissed off when i see 'medium parcel' on the PDA and then have to explain to the customer why i can't fit it into my HCT and need to arrange for a driver to pick it up. It peeves off the customer who then has to wait even longer to get their packet picked up.

I could understand a free promo until around end of October, but to continue being a free promo during the busy period from Black Friday until beyond Xmas is lunacy.
