9 day Fortnight and 4 days weeks

Post by TOWER1 »

Hi all,

Just been advised by our rep that 9 day Fortnights and 4 day's weeks are being "attacked" as part of the revision process

Apparently they been advised not to co operative with these revisions.

Has anyone else heard about this?

Cheers all

Also heard something similar...
Terrible goings on at the minute... No care and consideration for the will of the workforce.
Quite unbelievable the direction this company is going and at such pace.
Ripping up years of negotiated agreements in a matter of days....
Is it time to move on.??
No.
This is what they want........... the fight goes on....

we have just got our 9 day fortnights back in our last revision. been in since Feb. we had them about 5 yrs ago but they were ''stolen'' from us. Management hate the fact we are back on them. twisting their faces saying ''9 day fortnights don't work''. ...yes they do if they are resourced properly. there will be hell on if they try to take them off us again after it was democratically voted in.

You’re off 1 day in 6 days
Consecutive days off - so off on a Monday the week after Tuesday then Wednesday and so on…
But then how do they do Sundays then???

You would have thought being a PIC he would know what 1 in 6 means.

The point I was getting at was that we are going to a 7 day operation, so i thought it would have been 1 in 7 or 2 in 7..

We’re on Wallingtons still at our gaff - we haven’t heard of any change in attendance patterns. (Yet)

All units that have anything but 1 in 6 duty patterns will be having a revision. This will be pushed from
next week and Royal Mail are seeking revisions to be completed within a timeframe of 12 weeks.
Union will not be involved as it goes against agreements.
Royal Mail do not care and will push ahead with no agreement, IR Framework process will be sped up by Royal Mail so any disagreements are listened to and then ignored to push through this change.
Seems like the gloves are off.
Let battle commence

The document sent to managers specifically addresses the 9 day fortnight and the 4 day week. There's no mention of them being abolished but it does say those duties will be expected to do a minimum 5 hour delivery span (excluding breaks).

They can expect what they want. I’m on a 7 hour 20min a day, 4 day contract, most rounds here are 30 minute round trip away. Add on 40 mins in break, 20min loading van/vehicle check, that’s 1hr 30 plus the ‘minimum 5 hour delivery’ means I’ve 50 mins to prep and tie up. No chance. And before anyone says it, there are no spare staff to prep the round for me.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

I'm not saying it's achievable, I'm just quoting the document, which I think is mean to apply to full time contracts working those patterns. Royal Mail still tends to assume in its outpourings that full-time hours is what counts.
