I expect what will happen is that your way of working will change as drastically as those in delivery offices have.
So you'll be sending the parcels to the appropriate office accordingly, not continuing as you've been doing.

We're well understaffed as it is, we have loads of casuals everynight/ Apart from a half dozen and people transferredd in from other offices, they've not replaced staff who've left for many years..

You'd be looking at 1-2 hours later start times in DOs from this alone as the early shift would have the 2C to process first, they then start the DSA. Some packets would end up being triple handled.
atm large gets sorted as one large bull ring but with this that wouldn't be practical so there'd end up being:
Stage 1: Primary sort, direct selections for the busier DOs
Stage 2: Secondary sort, selections for the rest of the DOs
With this new thing you'd then have to go through each one comparing each item with a list which would really slow things down
After all that they'd end up all being bunged on the same york as the rest anyway

And put them on different yorks - I know, it's scarcely conceivable that a mail centre could have to alter its ways of working and find solutions to apparently insurmountable logistical difficulties; but console yourself with the fact it's your managers who'll have to organise it, not you.

To have each walk on a separate york you'd need a lorry bigger than a 17 tonner to get it to the DOs. To get them on a 600 they'll have to be condensed onto the same yorks
