Industrial action 'short of strike' at Royal Mail suspended ahead of vote on new offer
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/uk-n ... l-24494266
Industrial action by Royal Mail managers which was set to start tomorrow (Friday, July 15) has been suspended. Staff who are members of the Unite union were poised to work to rule until July 19 amid a dispute over jobs and pay.
However, members will now be balloted in the next few days on proposals aimed at resolving the row. A planned strike next week remains on, dependent on the outcome of the vote.
Unite said its senior reps had agreed to put the proposals from Royal Mail to a ballot of the membership. "In order to do this the planned action short of a strike due to commence tomorrow at 6am has been suspended," a statement from the union said.
“The ballot will open tomorrow morning and close on July 18. No decision has been taken regarding the notice for strike action for July 20-22."
A Royal Mail spokesperson said the company was "pleased" with the latest development. "Following collaboration with Unite, they have decided to suspend their planned work to rule industrial action and will now ballot their members with a recommendation to call off all planned industrial action," they said.

No way will those fannies go on strike. Cue an announcement within 24 hours that the strike days have been called off.

I think Unite have played a blinder. There is no way RM are going to let them strike, as said above they're going to need the managers for when we strike. I think this puts managers in a very strong position. Their timing is perfect!
"Just take it out and see how you go......."

Spoken to the managers at our office, as far as they are concerned nothing has changed and unless the changes are undone they will still vote for action, not impressed with their union. They still have compulsory sunday working, forced working of days off with no pay if cover cannot be found. 12 weeks notice if they want to get rid of them. They are not at all happy with unite.

OPG
The CMA have called off their action due to threat centred communication. Basically told if you go out you come back on new contracts. Assume you will try the same when we give strike dates. Give a decent payrise then we will discuss change. We are not the CMA we have a backbone don't try the same tactics with us.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
