Royal Mail Apprenticeship Interview

Post by SchrodingersCat »

Hi everyone,
My son (17) has a Postal Apprentice face-to-face interview later this month, having completed the online tests.
Can anyone give me tips on the types of questions that may be asked? He's not too nervous about the work-based assessment as he spent last Christmas as a temp in the local sorting office so can follow instructions, he's just super nervous about the interview as this will be his first.
Any help is greatly appreciated, don't want to put the lad on a bum steer so thought Id be better asking the experts
:Very Happy
Thanks

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Thanks, I saw those but not sure they'd give him that kind of a grilling being for n apprenticeship/school leaver. He has limited work experience.
I'll brief him, just the same, in case it is similar..ish....
thanks again :Applause

Remember they will want examples of when he's done those sort of things not necessarily in a work setting. So working to a deadline could be a project at school. Working with someone to achieve something could be building a shed with your dad. It's best to have a little story that goes with each 'Tell me about a time when....' question. Then just keep talking with all the little details it's much better if the interviewer doesn't have to keep asking lots of extra questions. In our area we have advertised for 2 and only 2 have passed all the initial assessments so the 2 who turn up for interview will get the job as long as they can spell their own names and can string 2 sentences together. Good luck.

Thanks for this, he can talk the glass eye out of a doll if he can make it sports-related so his examples from school should work just fine. He can just about spell his own name if he's had enough sleep and food and other teenage necessities :chuckle
In all seriousness, this is great so thank you very much for your help
