Charac, a pharmacy platform developed to help community pharmacies and patients manage prescriptions and online consultations, has received a £1m investment from Royal Mail Group. This will enable Charac which has had its Patient Relationship Management systems approved by the NHS to sign up a further 1000 pharmacies over the next year by expanding beyond its current operating areas of London, Birmingham and Manchester.
The investment deal will also see Stefan Kulik, managing director for Royal Mail’s health division join the Charac board. Kulik commented: “This is an exciting time to be working alongside Charac to enable pharmacies to provide patients with greater access to prescriptions and appointments through their local healthcare professionals. At Royal Mail, we know the importance of being able to guarantee the reliable and safe delivery of medicines to ensure patients get the healthcare they need at the right time.”
