I'd cross a management picket line, they would cross ours.

Fairly sure that we'd have no choice but to cross their picket lines as it's a completely separate dispute from the one we've (CWU) got with RM. The irony being that they'd probably be required top conduct code anyone who doesn't cross their picket lines

We have been faced with picket lines before (BBC, social care and Grunwick) and I don't know of anyone who had "no choice but to cross a picket line", even though they were completely separate disputes.
I don't know of anyone who was conducted for refusing to cross a picket line.

Obviously, they ain't going to strike, but anyway.
There will be 'contactable' managers somewhere no doubt, as long as you can contact 'someone' then it's a goer.
Unsure bout the H&S rep thing as many offices don't have them.

Even in the unlikely event that they actually strike there won't be a picket line to cross.

No manager is going to put themselves in the position of trying to stop another manager from going to work.

It would be career suicide.

I've always been led to believe that one trade union member does not cross another trade unions picket line. I asked our rep this very question and his answer was "Well I won't cross a picket line!" I have been to places on delivery where there was a picket line and I refused to cross it and took the mail back. I was not reprimanded in any way. I am just slightly concerned by this one as the 2 unions represent members of the same employer.

In mail centres the managers job is basically telling you to, take the work to, or work at one of three positions. You could include intensive watching when people go on break or to toilet, and thats it, all day everyday. Even then there could be two of them in a buddy system. Back to work interviews are a waste of time and so are work time learning. These are so infrequent that the managers are only doing about 25% of the work that the real postmen are doing. They should be called WATCHERS not managers. This is why those that become watchers are the laziest people amongst us who couldn't stand sorting the mail physically. They hate doing what Royal Mail does and seek a way out.
