My gut feeling is that they'd give the notice to quit contracts with the relevant plane companies, then tell everyone, at that point there'd be no choice with the later startsrichietns wrote: ↑28 Jun 2022, 06:21Yet they aren't really pursuing that they initially said they were going to drop flights which I assume you are talking about but are more bothered about Sundays and sick policy it doesn't seem to be at the forefront anymore.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jun 2022, 20:00The later starts one would be triggered by RM axing most of Skynet. Then they'd have to do the revisions all over again to factor in the 10 to 30 minute losses in time stuck in rush hour traffic.
Imagine the cost to Royal Mail if rush hour traffic slows every Postman down across the country by an average of 10 minutes per day.

Wasn't it the union that got the OT rate at the paltry level that it is ? Voted in by the membership who couldn't see pass the carrot.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑27 Jun 2022, 09:46I particularly like the bit about the Two Tier Workforce .... Not!![]()
So Union Members have worked for decades to get a SWW and gradually reduce the week by an hour a year. They've also managed to get a regular pay rise
(although always with strings attached
).
Then along come RM's Bright Sparks and with one sweeping suggestion say they want New Recruits to be working a 40 hour week again, and accept a reduced hourly pay rate. But with the sweetener that they'll be an enhanced OT rate.I wouldn't piss in their mouths if their teeth were on fire! I suppose they're be relying on the usual apathy of Longer Serving Full Time Staff, to the predicament of their Newer Colleagues to sign off on this ...... Provided of course they get "Their" £200 bonus.

I been saying for years that the CWU should be pursuing an improved OT rate. RM are saying our biggest costs are our staff... No Shite Sherlock. IMO you get a pretty good deal on it considering the ammount of OT this business needs to function and the paltry OT rates that you pay. RM say they want to use Annualised hours to save money in the lighter periods. Well you already do Dickheads it's called "PRESSURE OVERTIME"! in the Light Summer I only have to book 20-60 mins PRESSURE OVERTIME .... in the Heavy Winter I book 1-2 Hours PRESSURE OVERTIME. Go Figure![]()
Can't remember which agreement , but it was the one where they didn't want you reliant on overtime and gave an increased basic wage.

With ‘commit to deliver’ will we get paid extra for any time we go over?

I think you're underestimating the level of change and cost involved in moving the entire network.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Jun 2022, 06:44My gut feeling is that they'd give the notice to quit contracts with the relevant plane companies, then tell everyone, at that point there'd be no choice with the later startsrichietns wrote: ↑28 Jun 2022, 06:21Yet they aren't really pursuing that they initially said they were going to drop flights which I assume you are talking about but are more bothered about Sundays and sick policy it doesn't seem to be at the forefront anymore.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jun 2022, 20:00The later starts one would be triggered by RM axing most of Skynet. It's a huge undertaking, much larger than the revision process that failed so miserably last year and would take years to recoup the costs and this would be implemented without union support and against the wishes of the majority of staff, that would be a recipe for an epic cluster f**k.
The air network will be reduced gradually, there won't be any overnight cancelling of contracts, just a gradual switch away from air to road/rail.

I can't give you a definitive answer but I do know that a few years ago when we were in the run up to a IA ballot we took unofficial action and the Area Rep appeared out of nowhere to get us back to work. Clearly he didn't think it was a clever idea.daveyeff wrote: ↑27 Jun 2022, 18:48quick question for maybe ...dingo/martin walsh...woody....if RM decide to implement any of these proposed changes via executive action, this will understandably be like a red flag to a bull, and could cause wildcat strikes and walkouts all over the country. would these actions invalidate the upcoming ballot?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Royal mail proposal's
I'm sure you're right TB. The CWU was trying to rein in the "Overtime Bandits", and that's why the rate drops after the first 10 hours ..... didn't really work though did it?tractorboy2 wrote: ↑28 Jun 2022, 08:07

It was over 20 years ago I'm sure. Surely time to be re-visting the rates?

Unofficial industrial action is technically unlawful in itself which is why we have a rule 13.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑28 Jun 2022, 14:46I can't give you a definitive answer but I do know that a few years ago when we were in the run up to a IA ballot we took unofficial action and the Area Rep appeared out of nowhere to get us back to work. The CWU has to at least make a show that it wasn't involved in the organisation of an unofficial strike by attempting to resolve the issue and give the members a stern talking to.
Whether it would invalidate a national ballot would probably depend on whether Royal Mail could show that the union encouraged or at least condoned the walk outs.
Knowing Royal Mail they would probably try it...
