I have never seen so many posties with heavy bags on their shoulders dashing around. So much for taking the weight off your shoulder! On my last delivery before I retired I took my HCT with me everywhere. Yes no doubt it slowed me down but I wasn't going to wreck my back/shoulder as well as my knees (which are wrecked- thanks RM!). When I went along my old route which is on my way to town I see the trolley left but no sign of the no doubt running with a bag postie. Bet the trolley is left unattended far longer than the 10 minutes rule! And not even attached to any street furniture!matthew68 wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 21:24Spot on! No set duty pattern, the computer turns out that days delivery and you have to do it come rain shine or traffic jam.
Well done to all those bell ends who've come in early, worked for free, run around like headless chickens, not used trolleys and generally killed the job because they wanted to ghost overtime or sneak out early. Oh and lets not forget the incompetent managers that let them get away with it.

It's simple, they've gather all the data from people signing off their PDA's early number crunched it and hey presto hundreds of unworked hours each week can be clawed back from each D.O.matthew68 wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 21:24Spot on! Start on time,
Take your meal breaks.
Keep bags weights inline with safety limits.
Use a trolley were possible and necessary or cut bag weights down.
Scan everything and scan everything on the doorstep not as you walk down the street or at the back of the van when you take it out.
Don't write cards out in the office beforehand do it on the doorstep.
Don't take short cuts over gardens or walls (trolley usually stops that) walk up and down all driveways and paths to properly log time and distances accumulated out on delivery.
Do all van checks required.
Don't run/jog out on delivery.
Don't log out of your PDA till the very second your about to leave the building after signing out. You're still working when back at the D.O. doing returns and kill off etc.
Report all issues to managers as it's their job not yours to make decisions. Always keep the ball and pressure in their court.
If they threaten you with prep testing, take the test ,ace it and then tell them you want your duty testing. Play them at their own game because if you've done all of the above you've done your own data gathering and have that data logged to back yourselves up.
And diarise everything everyday, conversations with managers duty spans and packets etc. Have your own paper trail on hand at all times because it annoys the $hit out of them when you prove time and time again that as the person doing the delivery everyday you know more than them or their computer.

Not sure that would make any difference as once you're back at the office the PDA will pick up the office wi-fi and also it'll be within the geo-fenced area

Let's say, for ease, there's three periods:
Christmas - 8 weeks
Medium busy - 22 weeks
"Quiet" - 22 weeks
During the quiet time, I usually book 4 or 5 hours over each week to complete my revised duty. During the medium let's say 7.
That's give or take 250 hours overtime before the peak period. If i bank all those hours then that's essentially just over 8 weeks base pay. I'll forego my docket pay all year and just take the peak period off. That's fair, right?

It’s just one of the unanswered questions. They want a commitment that you will stay out and complete your delivery every single day, what happens if doing that means working, let’s say, 200 hours over your contracted hours during the year? Are we talking about compulsory overtime?Fdeezy wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 08:57Let's say, for ease, there's three periods:

Yes but as FB said (which seemed to pass you by), you can still be working even though you are physically in the 'geo-fenced area' doing killSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 07:17Not sure that would make any difference as once you're back at the office the PDA will pick up the office wi-fi and also it'll be within the geo-fenced area
offs, stacking and returning perstops, same with yorks, emptying bags, scanning items back in, tidying your van, refuelling van. I can
spend 20 minutes doing all of this and still claim the second 20 minutes due of break at the end and I've had an intense discussion with
a manager before about why I'd claimed 40 minutes at the end, he relented when I threatened to dump all the kill offs and just leave
all the perstops on his office desk - and no we don't have light duties staff to do that and so I do exactly the same with the PDA as FB
said log off and return it just as you're about to walk out the door.

You can jump through as many hoops as you like and wait until you're halfway out the door before you sign out of your PDA but it won't make a blind bit of difference.
I think most of us realise that now, you're not protecting jobs any more than someone taking their shopping to a manned checkout in Tesco.
The length of time your duty should take is derived from a piece of software.
That determines how big the duty is or will become.
All PDA data tells them is how long you are taking to do it.
To paraphrase the muppets..
One of these things is not like the other,
One of these things just doesn't belong....

Appreciate that it won't make a difference in the big scheme of things, but on a day to day basis of 'why are you claiming thisWoody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 16:16You can jump through as many hoops as you like and wait until you're halfway out the door before you sign out of your PDA but it won't make a blind bit of difference.

much at the end of the day?' as per my example, a final scan of lets say a consolidation collection or item return to office scan
provides some small degree of confirmation of final work activity if challenged.
An example of the opposite and confused type of thinking, a colleague who consistently rushes round
and finishes 'early' insists on personally placing his PDA back in the rack without logging out - in his own words 'I'm still logged on so
it shows I'm 'at work'' - not realising that the locker staff log it off instantly when he's out of the office - it logs itself off eventually anyway.

Very true and the the f****d up thing is they don't realise or don't want to realise (or are totally ignoring) that if say its a quiet Monday or Tuesday some people will work to their time indoors at the end of their rounds and do extra dtd's for the next day. It will all come out in the wash eventually.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 16:16You can jump through as many hoops as you like and wait until you're halfway out the door before you sign out of your PDA but it won't make a blind bit of difference.

But if a manager issues a direct instruction for you to do that, isn't that a reasonable request for which you don't haveRTP wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 18:38Very true and the the f****d up thing is they don't realise or don't want to realise (or are totally ignoring) that if say its a quiet Monday or Tuesday some people will work to their time indoors at the end of their rounds and do extra dtd's for the next day. a reason to refuse? - Even though 'they' will then obviously be gaining time off you to work the busier Wednesday/Thursday.

Re: RMCtv : No cut offs - ever - You take it out - you deliver it all.
Lets face it, this whole working 32hrs (or whatever it is) per week in the summer is pie in the sky stuff. That's saying you're finishing an hour a day early every day. Cloud f***ing cuckoo land. Ok there will be the odd rounds that do (and good luck to you) but that to me says its a case of bad management and is tarring us all with the same brush.
Take lapsing as an example. It's done straight across the board. Management will know that Fred on round 1 will be finished an hour early, but Bob on round 3 will be up to his time or just over if he has to lapse. Instead of giving Fred extra lapsing and Bob no lapsing they give equal lapsing across the board, because that is deemed fair, but if Bob sometimes says he hasn't time to lapse, then Fred might be asked to cover Bobs lapsing and is paid extra for it.

Just leaving the PDA logged in whether in a MC or a DO doesn't prove that someone has been workingyellowbelly wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 15:55Yes but as FB said (which seemed to pass you by), you can still be working even though you are physically in the 'geo-fenced area' doing killSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 07:17Not sure that would make any difference as once you're back at the office the PDA will pick up the office wi-fi and also it'll be within the geo-fenced area

They’ve been going on about this for ages - but clocking in machines aren’t even mentioned in the latest lot of changes
Probably because nobody was really bothered about them
“Shorts,in this weather?!”
“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”
“What’s she been ordering now?”
