Trouble is a lot of people can't miss a whole weeks wage! They've got bills to pay, kids to feed.

Do overtime now to make up for it, then we all have a week off in a month or 2 months time.

Is a 1 day strike going to do any damage, you'd prob get a load of posties clearing 2 days mail the next day so in the end it might even save RM money.

Got to be at least a 3 day strike, surely.

Why would you want to lose money striking when the industrial action in the Mail Centre mean there is nothing to deliver in your office anyway.
Surely it is better to get paid for doing nothing than lose pay for doing nothing?

Strike fund in advance is good advice after all who will pay you after you strike.
As to previous post no one would do a full week we need to target times and rotas this way it helps resolve the dispute faster better for everyone.
Even tory MP's were told not to do so in the case of the confidence vote of the Prime Minister I did not get a vote but he can f**k off if it helps.

I think you know this but agency has been used a lot in possessing and distribution but have noticed a marked increase since the pandemic of agency in delivery.

Don't forgot our Divvy of a leader has forced a 2% payrise on us ,and will be backdating. So we have an average of £150 coming in our wages.Just use this for strike days.So really u don't lose any money.Full walkout for at least 2 days.Wot a cleaver plan by simple simon.

This is a different game to the last time we had a national strike (2009). We're a private company now.

This isn't about building a huge backlog and creating chaos in the pipeline, this is about making our large customers and shareholders nervous because ultimately they will pressure the board to find a solution.

Royal Mail may be able to clear the backlog but it will cost them dearly in potential lost orders and the shareholders won't like that.

The longer that drags on and the longer we're able to afford to keep striking the more pressure will come to resolve it.

A strike for a week or more would be s**t or bust and RM would be able to ride it out knowing when it's over we're done.

An indefinite series of rolling strikes is a far bigger worry for them.

The danger is an awful lot of OPGs, at least at my depot, have history over the last ~2.5 years of clearing 1-4 days backlog. Even if it meant lots of overtime, just to get their frame clear again after their day off; leave; or their own sickness.

Although silly me forgot that there's a reasonable chance of a paid overtime ban on days after strikes.

If you get £200 gross back pay, you'll get something like £133.50 net.

By function seemed to work reasonable well before say:

Day 1: Logistics
Day 2: MC Processing
Day 3: MC Distribution
Day 4: DOs

That would be more effective imo, no mail centre or drivers to take mail to D.O.s so we get no mail to deliver....then next day mail centre at work and drivers taking mail to D.O.s be no posties to deliver it...i think these type of disruptions have a bigger effect.

Yes I read that. The RMT was saying that using less experienced and qualified workers to run essential services would create safety risks for the public and the workforce.

But it puts agency workers in a precarious position whereby the dispute isn't getting resolved and simply makes industrial relations ever worse
