Can't see it fully working in MCs as it's no good carrying on after the normal finish time of a shift as the work will miss the final lorries off to the next offices so it'll fail anyway. Won't be viable for longer hours in the winter as you'll have to wait anyway for the previous shift to finish and get their work dispatched before you can start tidying up and getting your own work areas set up

You are funny SP, they will also change the times of the trucks arriving and leaving throughout the year as well, you guys are gonna get just as shafted as us in delivery, probably more so.

Sounds like it might result in us having to make our final dispatches later in the winter

So much for the "culture" in RM. Annualised hours and the above and beyond bonus thing sound like a recipe for a ramping up of both management and co-worker bullying. Certainly in DOs, anyway.

Good luck working in the dark delivering mail down some country lanes, up someone's dark dodgy uneven driveway, getting stuck in School and rush hour traffic.

Mass exodus of staff is coming if this comes in.

One of the main benefits of being a Postie is finishing at ~2pm. It makes it different from other delivery jobs and makes up a bit for the physicality of the job. If we go to working later and finishing later we might as well look elsewhere for work where we can do far less physical labour.

After this 2% pay rise and the minimum wage going up 6.6% we are heading towards getting paid the minimum wage in time.

They will probably offer us 1/3rd of the minimum wage increase each time until we are at minimum wage level.

Being a Postie for minimum wage is not worth it for the daily aches and pains. It's barely worth it now. So I very much doubt they'd be able to retain the amount of staff they need if we keep getting paid less.

Yup, just mental. Even if they rely on management's B&H to clear rounds, parcels, etc, it just won't work. As mentioned retainment of staff, no chance if working random hours and pay is lower, just work somewhere easier.

Rural or difficult places to deliver will increase the messiness of this, won't be enough knowledgeable staff left to be delivering efficiently.

Different people on different rounds every day in the dark will cause lots more dog attacks and trips and falls.

As mentioned it really does seem like a slow move to an Amazon style overhaul now. The RM people favoured will be gone soon enough. Posties will be nameless workers on the street.

Except without the collosal investment that Amazon did/does. Which is why i think it will fail to succeed. Our route planner is just awful.
