Update on talks with CWU and Dispute Resolution Process

I just want to give you a quick update on pay talks after further discussions with CWU this week.

As you’ll be aware, last week CWU opted to move negotiations into our agreed Dispute Resolution Process on pay. This is the formal process we agreed with CWU to try and resolve issues under discussion.

In our engagement with CWU we have re-emphasised our need to discuss the changes we need in order to agree a pay deal, and that we feel the best way to progress this is also through the Dispute Resolution Process.

This is designed to ensure we have meaningful discussion and can reach an agreement on a pay award as soon as we can.

As we’ve said before, we need a pay deal for tomorrow, not just today. Securing the changes necessary for the future of this business will be an important part of any deal.

The Dispute Resolution Process was set up for exactly this sort of situation, and we're fully committed to using it so we can get to an agreement quickly.

The process will last for a month - or longer if both parties agree - and we expect to be in discussion from next week within the Dispute Resolution Process.

We’ll keep you updated as much as we can during the process.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

They will bring all these changes in at the end of the 4 week dispute resolution process via executive action is my guess. The fact Terry brought this up in his last q and a video shows he knows this is a strong possibility too. Rm probably already have their lawyers on the case to stop any strike action we might try just like last time, I’m sure the Cwu will give them plenty of silly reasons to block industrial action. Hate to sound so negative but I think we are screwed.

This would be extremely unlikely and very stupid.
Trying to change a company without taking the staff with you never ends well. Instead of one set of negotiations you would end up with 300 separate disputes around the country. All goodwill would disappear overnight, the union would fight every inch of every change in every office.

It would end in chaos, shareholder revolt and Simon"s resignation.

I guess time will tell and I really hope I’m wrong and your right. I get there is always a bit of bluster and shouting from both sides before some sort of compromise is made but I really get the sense RM won’t budge this time. Find out over the next few months I suppose.

6.6% pay rise is fair, mirroring national living wage increase. No strings attached.

This, or we repeatedly strike.

I hoped to be in this job long term, but I am physically spent and a terrible pay rise with strings could put an end to my commitment to the company.

I was talking to a colleague the other day and he said he wouldn't strike he couldn't afford it,I know people have there own opinions but don't understand that mentality we would be striking for more money.

But if your colleague is already on the breadline then how is he going to survive if he starts losing his pay as well?

My gut feeling is that the axing of the use of planes with the resulting much later start/finish times for everyone is one they might use executive action, as it'll be just about impossible to reverse
