Re: Photographic Proof of Delivery.
If I go out for a meal with Mrs Clash and she is paying, is she the customer or are we both customers?

Excellent pointsAcca Dacca wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 21:18Its not pedantry, its a fact that the photographs are for the benefit and request of those paying Royal Mail to deliver the item so we should be doing what they ask. It stops the recipients or 'customers' or whoever you want to call them claiming they didnt get something they did which saves companies having to chase RM for compensation, send out 'replacements' and ultimately helps protect our jobs as we are the first people questioned if a 'customer' says they didnt get something ( even when we know they did )mjd24 wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 21:15Acca Dacca wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 17:31The person we deliver to doesnt pay Royal Mail at all at any point. They order the item and pay the business to get the item to them. The business chooses who to use to get it to them and pays that courier to do so.sindba wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 17:18I often hear this, and it's technically correct of course.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 17:13Our customer is the sender thoughclockworkjerk wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 17:06If you know your customer, you know your customer..... do what the customer wants. [until they complain about you doing what they've asked of you, then stop. Forever]
I'd be utterly pissed off as a customer if this was followed how it (used to) say on the photo screen. Now they've opened it up a bit so you can safe place it anyway.
They pay us to get proof of delivery so the recipient doesnt say they didnt get it or we lost it
But for me, my customer is the one who has ordered and paid for the item, and paid us for delivery of the item. i.e. the recipient.
Similarly, if I want to send my Gran a card, I am the one who pays for the stamp as payment for Royal Mail getting the item to her
She doesnt do a thing. I am Royal Mail's customer.
Always a pedant.

Taking blurry photos of whatever rather than insisting on stupid door-open poses isn't "taking shortcuts". It is doing the job in a respectful and friendly way so I stay on friendly terms with my customers rather than looking like just another Hermes prick.

When delivering the parcel to mr smith at 46 nowhere street, on my Royal Mail pda it gives me three options. Safe place neighbour or customer. So I guess mr smith is the customer according to Royal Mail.

And 2% is a fair pay rise, less than 1/3 of walks failing is business as usual and management aren't c***s according to them too.

Re: Photographic Proof of Delivery.
The other benefit of photo on delivery is it can help track down when a parcel has been misdelivered....
Customer at csp "Where is my parcel, photo shows its been delivered to my garage. I dont have a garage".
That'll be a photo on delivery of the item misdelivered to 32 Acacia Road rather than 32 Acacia Avenue then.
Similarly it helps when posties scan item at door, rather than at the start of the street half a mile away...

The recipient doesn't pay Royal Mail at any point for the delivery of the item
The sender is the one who has paid for our service
The recipient is the senders customer who has paid the sender for a good and service - part of which involves the sender paying us to get their goods to them
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: Photographic Proof of Delivery.
Customer is just a word.A customer is someone who buys a good or service
Language is fluid.
Why are so many people on here so hung up on rigid definitions?
Royal Mail calls the recipient a customer.
They're called customer complaints not recipient complaints.
I treat them as a customer.
I'll let whoever deals with Boohoo call them a customer if they want although usually in those situations they're called clients but since I don't have any interaction with Boohoo it doesn't really matter what I call them.

So I will ask again.
If me and Mrs Clash go out for a meal and she is paying, is she the only customer?
What am I in this situation?

What does going out for a meal have to do with how royal mail works?

Re: Photographic Proof of Delivery.
Right, so if a tracked item or special item goes missing or gets damaged in transit, who makes the claim for compensation? The person who actually paid royal mail has to make the claim ie the customerpieoftheday wrote: ↑12 May 2022, 15:05What does going out for a meal have to do with how royal mail works?
