We are delivering them because on Saturday a lot of deliveries were tracked and oversize only. At least that's what happened in my office :thumbdown :thumbdown

Which is clearly not good enough. Its after occasions like Mothers Day that these issues really get highlighted and show RM up for what they've become.

So this is just the new norm nowadays ? Customers paying good money for gifts and cards that dont get delivered on time .

Its been that way for well over a year. Any other business would have been paying out massive refunds for failing to provide the service paid for. RM just issues fob off copy-and-paste statements that the press and MPs swallow up. They certainly don't care about letters, and the number of Tracked failed at our office is increasing by the day.

Something had to give on Saturday. Not to defend the company, but if everyone orders at the last minute this is what happens. If the last decade of Christmases are any indication, the public will learn to order in advance and subsequently turn Mothers' Day into a three week affair.
The machine stops.

Saturday wasn't that busy. Most of the flowers and chocolates came through on Thursday and Friday. Failures on Saturday were due to lack of staff. Vacancies not filled and staff not wanting to work their day off on a long weekend. Service is dropping back to the lows of last summer. Total disgrace :evil/mad :evil/mad

Quite correct, our manager used to religiously keep his eye on the missort frame on the Saturday before Mothers Day and announce out loud to all that ALL Mothers Day cards MUST be delivered.

When service was service.

Which was during a period when we had no real competition so didn't have to worry about keeping expenses under tight control now, it seems, staffing levels have been cut to the minimum to try and compete with likes of Amazon, DPD and Evri.

In general, Royal Mail managers couldn't care less about the reasons that staff give for being absent from work. I've seen members of staff be hospitalised, suffer serious accidents and even die in service... and all the managers care about is covering the jobs. It is a numbers game, nothing more, nothing less. I see staff complete 40 or 50 years' service and are allowed to just bag up and leave on their last day without thanks or ceremony. If people feel like nobody cares that transmits to performance. There is no incentive to work harder and work longer hours when you're treated like a number. The sense of community has gone from the business, the share price is all that matters to the current CEO.
What a load of tosh
Absolutely spot on Jack 1960 👍👍
