Frank about the post

I am a pensioner, 91 years of age, not able to drive any longer. Many of my relatives and friends live a fair distance away. I don't do email and I am hearing-impaired, so do not use the telephone. I wait for the "postie" eagerly every morning. He will also take little parcels, properly weighed and stamped by me, as it is difficult for me to get to the post office – so I spend a fair amount at the PO. I do hope there will be a satisfactory conclusion to the dispute (Report, 10 October).

• Small business owners say they are penalised when customers blame them for postal delays. I'm a collection driver for Royal Mail and frequently collect mail that is franked with a date from the previous week. Having worked at various firms before Royal Mail, I know it's common practice to "wind back" the date on the franking machine and blame the postman. "The cheque is in the post" when it is nothing of the sort.

Yes it will still be serviced, just that if after the last post collection, it will happen 1 day later.
