Another office in Wirral has been affected leading to delivery delays
Disruption to Royal Mail deliveries continues as we head into Christmas week.
Last week the postal service admitted staffing problems due to Covid-19 had impacted offices around the country including St Helens, Warrington and New Ferry in Wirral.
While issues at the New Ferry delivery office appear to have resolved, the Upton office is now experiencing problems.
Royal Mail said: "In a small number of local offices this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as COVID-related self isolation, high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
"In those cases we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.
"We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.
"We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding."

One Wirral man said Amazon was putting Royal Mail "to shame" as the Christmas rush continues ahead of the big day on Saturday.
John Kelly told the ECHO: "Five days later my birthday post arrived despite family sending cards first class.
"It's sad and a disgraceful service.
"I ordered many Christmas items from Amazon. What a company - [package was] there next day, delivered to family and friends.
"Put Royal Mail to shame."
Amazon has been criticised in the past for its treatment of staff and delivery drivers as they meet the tough next day delivery demands.
Like Amazon, Royal Mail is a private company, but for most of its history, it was a public service operating as a government department. However, in 2015 the Government sold the last of its remaining shares in the company.

News of the disruption comes after the BBC reported that absence levels at the postal giant are almost double those seen in 2018.
A source said the internal situation is "horrific" and claimed: "It's much worse than a normal Christmas."
Current Royal Mail delivery offices affected (local offices in bold);

Congleton DO (CW4 and CW12)

The postal service has 1,200 offices, so most of its operations remain unaffected by the disruption.

If Amazon are so great how come we're delivering so many of their parcels?
I only hope RM are charging them an arm and a leg because they're overloading our duties due to their drivers being unable to cope .... now we're the ones that can't cope!

I heard a rumour that it's actually the complete opposite, Amazon get a great deal for the volume they send our way and if we don't deliver as per spec they get hefty compensation, hmm let's think... concentrate on the tracked items...Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021, 20:07If Amazon are so great how come we're delivering so many of their parcels?![]()

Yeah, I was told the same the day after we failed massively one night shift. We failed 75+ yorks of T24 and was told this failure was discussed at the board level due to the level of compensation. Was peak Covid in lockdown with virtually no staff to process it - a shift I've not forgotten.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021, 23:27I heard a rumour that it's actually the complete opposite, Amazon get a great deal for the volume they send our way and if we don't deliver as per spec they get hefty compensation, hmm let's think... concentrate on the tracked items...Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑20 Dec 2021, 20:07If Amazon are so great how come we're delivering so many of their parcels?![]()

The cover manager kept his job just - well shafted by his shift manager.

It sounds like DSA for packets. The packet delivery market is saturated with cheaper options, so I'm guessing 'great deal' translates as a loss.
The machine stops.
