Facebook Marketplace to launch new postal service

According to Money Saving Expert, The Facebook Marketplace is launching a new postal service but it won’t be free to use. The service will require sellers to pay a 2% fee from January but don’t panic, using their collection option will remain free.

It’s probably common knowledge that Facebook are making some changes to their platform. One of those changes includes a postal service that could impact how both consumers and sellers interact with the marketplace by offering more choices. Now sellers will be able to use the platform to sell items to buyers in and out of their local area.

Facebook have been letting sellers offer collection or shipping options since last month, for the time being, this is a free option, so it is a good time to see if offering the service will benefit your business. Facebook has stood out to sellers against other marketplaces because it is free to use, adding a paid option could look like an issue to some but in reality, when compared with the fees we see being charged elsewhere and the fact sellers still have the free collection option the addition still seems relatively fair.

To offer this new service, Facebook have partnered with Hermes. The courier company will calculate the postage cost based on the product information provided before the seller tales the parcel to a Hermes drop-off point.

The postal service can only be used for items that fall into the following categories:

Babies and kids.
Bags and luggage, books, movies and music (so long as these are physical items – digital sales are not allowed).
Clothing and shoes.
Electronics and computers.
Health and beauty.
Jewellery and accessories.
Mobile phones.
Sports and outdoors.
Toys and games.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
