BY day she delivers post to the people of Bolton — and by night she delivers the right note as a singer!

Bolton postie Claire Palmer will be performing for the first time tonight since lockdown at the Northern Monkey Brew Co, on Chorley Street, just on the outskirts of the town centre.

And colleagues at Bolton North delivery office will be out in force to cheer her on.

Claire was a primary school teacher specialising in music for 12 years before she decided to leave her role to pursue her passion for singing, 10 months before the pandemic hit.

When the lockdown began in March 2020, Claire had to stop gigging and found she couldn’t gain support financially due to her singing business not being one-year-old.

Looking for work, Claire was offered a teaching job as well as the chance to work as a postie, she took on the postie role and it’s changed her life – for the better.

Claire started working at Bolton North Delivery Office in September 2020, she says she loves the work and an added bonus met her partner Adam.

Claire said: “I’m really excited to be back out performing again after a break.

“It’s really nice that I am able to keep my job as a postie and carry on pursuing what I want in the evening.

“Anyone is welcome to attend tomorrow’s gig, there’s already a good crowd attending.”

Claire has been singing since she was a young child, attending singing lessons and the youth theatre group at St Peter and Pauls Church in Salford, where she performed in shows like Annie and Bugzy Malone.

Phillipa Roberts, Claire’s mum, said she is really proud of how far her daughter has come.

She said: “I am extremely proud of Claire that she has come this far. It was really unfortunate that she took the leap to sing and then Covid happened.

“I am just very proud of her.”

As well as her gigging at weddings, pubs and clubs, Claire is also a member of the tech electro band, Before Atlas, writing and signing alongside Nick Bolan and Danny Green.

Their first album will be released on November 12 featuring 11 tracks for global release.

The gig will take place at 8pm.
