RMCtv : Simon Thomson "I will not be swayed on poor revisions"

Post by POSTMAN »

I think you may have seen my video earlier in the week that I did, then I played out on Monday where I talked about the progress we've made on revisions, and you know, it was a massive undertaking, and so a big thank you to you all again, and I know a number of you have been on workplace saying that you don't agree with me.

But I'm sorry to say it again change of the scale that we've done is very, very hard, and I will not be swayed, I think we did a really brilliant job.
But I know that what we did involved implementing a lot of change and also in a very, very short space of time, and there are definitely things we can learn from the experience and learn we will.

In fact, we are now working with our unions to look at what worked and what didn't work so well so that we can act on this before we get into the process of more regular revisions.

I know that the CWU are getting feedback from members as well as so we're going to work with mark Baulch and his team to review the key themes and take any next steps required as quickly as practical.

I believe terry and mark are doing a special Facebook live on Monday around about five p.m.on this particular topic, so look out for that, those that would like to hear from terry and Mark on the topic,

But now that we've made progress with our revisions, our next focus is to raise the bar to equalise performance

Now there are a small number of delivery officers, in particular, who are struggling, and their performance is disproportionately impacting the overall numbers.

It could be for a wide number of reasons, some of which may be out of their control, but we do need to dig a little bit deeper, and we do need to help them fix it.

So we've been pulling together a delivery performance task force under the leadership of steve Mallory, it's a team that have wonderful experience, and they work closely with a handful of units initially ten, and really guide them to get back on track.

And here are the ten units, and I won't name them because, frankly, I just don't think that's fair, but I thought you would like to see roughly where they are.

So we'll start with these ten, and we're starting to support them from Monday.
And as we go along, this journey will let you know how we get on, it's worth noting that during the period of help, their reporting line will change to Steve and his team.

And as I said on Monday, we've been trying to support them in our traditional way, and we haven't been making enough progress quick enough, so now we're doing something differently.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

500 years history destroyed by one man who won't be 'swayed', try going round yourself to some of these offices and not the cherry picked ones. Try talking to your frontline staff for once and stop listening to your brown tongued area managers. You remind me of General Melchett from Blackadder.

A "delivery performance task force". God help us.

The duties are impossible because they are all BLOODY MASSIVE.

Unless the " task force" is going to take a shelf of mail and half a york of packets off me, I aint gonna "improve delivery performance" you massive pillocks.

All the captured growth via online, with the help of Covid. And it is all going to be lost because of a Leader who wants more profit/work. It is like someone who actually wants to run a company into the ground.

"I will not be swayed on poor revisions, poor revisions are the way forward and are here to stay. Until the next poor revision in a year's time that is. But the probabilities are that eventually an infinite number of monkeys in an infinite number of George at Asda shirt and tie sets armed with an infinite number of Etch-a-Sketches and Speak-And-Spells will come up with a good revision. Then we will lend them to the Post Office to see if they can clean up the mess left by that Horizon business. Or maybe not. Thanks for your (unpaid over)time Team."

Taskforce

As with any revision it will only work if you involve the people executing it and I’m not talking about management. It all links in with the culture at RM which seems to be getting worse not better.
