Don't understand my AVC

Post by paulus103 »

Having read about the new plan - I'm a little confused about AVC's

I've been with RM for just under 2 years.

I've been paying an avc from my pay for about 1 year.

Looking at my Scottish widows account -t all my AVC contributions are combined with my own pension and RM's contribution for that week
e.g. it shows as one merged payment called Employer payment.

Reading posts on here they all talk about separate pots.

Bit confused

As you're in the RMDCP all your money goes into the same pot and you then invest it in your chosen funds. You can then access your money when the time comes.

But anyone who joined RM anytime before April 2008 will be in a different scheme(unless they opted out) which accrues pension based on wages and length of service.
They also have the choice to pay AVC's into separate accounts, similar to yours, which is generally used to fund their tax free lump sum when taking their pension.
