Reaching 65

Post by ashadd »

Having just turned 65, I was expecting my pension to be paid to me on my birthday, this hasn't happened,so,when do you you receive any pension payment?
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

I retired on the 11th of this month (September) at the age of 65 after 30 years with Royal Mail. I had completed all the forms they sent, but I haven't received any payments at all. When I phoned them about it, I was told they have no record of my retirement and it will take at least another month to sort it.

I think they aim to pay any lumps sums on your birthday, pending weekends and bank holidays. But the pension itself is usually paid on the last working day of the month.

This is correct. The PSC told me my lump sum would be paid on the 15th November (My birthday being on the preceding Saturday) and the RMSPS said it would be paid on or around my birthday (13th) so I expect that on the 15th also. My first pension payment will be paid on the 30th Nov.
