Yep awful rates but as most usually are ghosting their OT nobody complains.
Soon when we all start clocking in and out at our start and finish time and OT cannot be started until your regular hours are finished people will start realising this and will be doing less and less OT for such a poor rate.
hopefully then the RM and the CWU might review them if they want most offices to clear!
Not everyone is in an easy office and ghosts overtime. Some of us actually go over on our own duties!
And so would I on busy days if I didn’t work my time (which is your choice also btw)
I rarely do overtime let alone ghost any !

Its not just about “easy” offices. The fact is that some posties are just way quicker than others. There are 2 guys in my office who can double up (2 duties) and always be finished by 3:30 (getting paid 6 hours overtime until 9pm). But there are multiple people in the office who would finish at that time (3:30) maybe even later, just doing 1 of those duties!
Why are they being paid till 9pm if they are finished by 3.30pm.
And under the working time directive , they shouldn't be starting the following day till 8am.

An Individual's choice overrides this. As it should, basically the individual can choose to override anything in that....it's there to protect from being forced to do something.

OK. Well I am in the job 5 months and obviously have a lot to learn. I have no idea what all the overtime rates are in my payslip and I certainly didn't know thàt I am on a lower rate for overtime which is more than half my pay. Been working 6 day weeks since starting. Is there a glossary here that explains all or any of the acronyms in the pay advice.

I think that is wishful thinking on your part.
You cannot opt out.
It is a bit like saying wearing a seat belt is optional, an individual's choice can override it.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Well no, because wearing a seltbelt isn't optional, there is no choice or opt out.

Find me somewhere that says that, you, the individual, who has chosen to work 60-70-80 whatever hours can be fined for doing so.

Precisely because you have the option to opt out of the weekly limit on hours worked. If you don't sign the opt out - you can't.

GLOSSARY OF TERMS USED WITHIN ROYAL MAIL
Sorry Teebs. I did look on there but maybe he can add some of the abbreviations shown below: Fairly incomprehensible to me although I now know that the Weekday Overtime @ SSPR refers to overtime between my basic 24 contracted hours and full time 37 hrs. And the line before that OT 1st 10 Hrs refers to Overtime worked after 37 Hrs up to 47 Hrs. Still no idea how pension contribution is calculated as there are 4 different lines of deduction. I thought it was just a regular percentage of total pay?

Basic Pay
PSE Adj. RMDCP MIN AVC
Arrears of PSE Adj. RMDCP MIN AVC
Delivery Supplement
Weekday OT1 1st 10 Hrs W/C 30-08-21
Weekday Overtime @SSPR W/C 30-08-21
PSE Adj. RMDCP MIN
Arrears of PSE Adj. RMDCP MIN

Another thing I have noticed on the MyPayslips app is the Gross Pay and Deductions amounts are both just over £50 higher in the Landing / Headline Page than in the pdf download page which has full details of pay and deductions Take Home Pay in the Headline page is the same as Net Payment in the pdf and same as amount put in my bank.

Because nobody would do it otherwise. What they are really doing is running around like madmen all day for which they will pay a price later on with joint problems. All for about £50-£60 quid after tax. Still sound like a good deal?

There is no option to opt out of the rest.
It is employment law.
Except that the language of the law is different for different aspects.
4.—(1) Unless his employer has first obtained the worker’s agreement in writing to perform such work, a worker’s working time, including overtime, in any reference period which is applicable in his case shall not exceed an average of 48 hours for each seven days.
10.—(1) A worker is entitled to a rest period of not less than eleven consecutive hours in each 24-hour period during which he works for his employer.
"shall not" versus "is entitled to"; if you work over the maximum hours, RM are liable to get clobbered (and the onus is on them not to let you do so); but if you choose to work shifts less than 11 hours apart, the law is fine with that, provided it is your choice rather than RM requiring you to.

Try reading Royal Mails Policy on it. Where it states you MUST have an 11 hour break between shifts.

Arrears of PSE Adj. RMDCP MIN

PSE Adj. RMDCP MIN AVC
Arrears of PSE Adj. RMDCP MIN AVC

The PSE AVC entries are for pension Additional Voluntary Contributions you must have opted to pay.
I think you may have opted to pay a % extra as I pay a set amount of pounds as AVC's not a % so I don't
get the 'arrears' entry, so the arrears PSE AVC entry is for a % AVC contribution on O/T worked.

--------

PSE Adj. RMDCP MIN
Arrears of PSE Adj. RMDCP MIN

These entries are for the PSE tier you are in (before AVC's), this is a set % - if you've been in less than a year
I think it's you pay 5% and RM pay 3% (which is why it say MIN - it's the minimum level).
Again the arrears entry is for OT you worked (up to 37/38hrs depending on whether or not you've had
an office revision).

The pensions board is really good here: viewforum.php?f=27
and RobertT on there is an outstanding contributor on there, but read some of the threads first as you
will probably find a lot of your questions about pensions already answered.

I think the law requires the employer to ensure that the provision for the rest breaks is adequately provided.
Scheduling you to work for 7 days or without an 11 hour rest break, even if you were fine with it, would be deemed a breach of their duty of care.
If you had an accident and fatigue was found to be the main cause what do you think would happen?

I can understand there may be situations in emergency services/care where the rules may not be so clear cut but not with mail delivery.
I know TP thinks we are the 4th emergency service but we are not.

How much is the overtime rate over 10 hours?
