Planning permission has been granted for a replacement Royal Mail delivery office in Sheffield.
An application was submitted by Royal Mail, supported by WSP, to Sheffield City Council in December 2020 for the replacement of its North East Sheffield site.
Royal Mail has operated a delivery office on Barnsley Road since the 1930s but the current building is said to be in a state of deterioration.
The plans cover the demolition of the existing delivery office and construction of a larger 11,000 sq ft building.
The scheme also includes 32 parking spaces, as well as an operational yard and ancillary works.
A planning statement submitted with the plans said the development would "allow Royal Mail to improve operations are its North East Sheffield Delivery Office" and would contribution to "continued economic growth" in the city.
The council has now granted approval for the development, subject to conditions, under delegated powers.
A planning officer's report accompanying the decision said: "The design of the building is of appropriate quality and benefits would be secured in terms of sustainability, accessibility, and the provision of employment and skills outcomes."
