Re: non payment of regular RMSPS pension

Post by Sandyman »

Got the usual monthly payment, no P60 for 2020/21, no notification of my 0.5% increase in pension due 30th April 2021 and no increase on last years payment. Nothing of these things can be seen in my account on the website, e mail, or ordinary mail. Looks like Capita's reputation for poor service continues.

No problem with the other pension dealt with by our own people in Sheffield.

Got both increased pensions today. Though still have not received the pension increase letter from RMSPS. Got the RMPP one a few weeks ago. And no P60 yet either. I do know the P60 from RMSPS is on the back of the increase letter.
Received P60 today from RMSPS but there is no mention front or back about Pension Increase from April 2021 .

There is no logic to this as I got my RMSPS P60 today and my 21/22 increase letter was on a separate sheet.
I can't really see the point of telling you how much your 2021/22 pension will increase after one month of that pension has already been paid out.

Some of us didn’t get their Pension increased this month. 2 of my colleagues are in a similar position as myself all taking our NRA60 in Jan / Feb 2020 and none of us have received any letter about an increase on 2021/2022. No information on the RMSPS Portal but unless I’m missing something we 3 should be receiving an increase of 1.1% based on RPI in September 2020 ? :thumbup

If you're in section C, it should be 1.1%(RPI).
Section A/B should be 0.5%(CPI).

Still no letter from RMSPS yet. Thankfully I did get the increase to both pensions last month. And expect the "full" increase this month. But Capital gives you no confidence whatsoever. If they can make a mistake or error they will! Only got my supplement by contacting their CEO. Otherwise no doubt that would never have been paid!

If you're in section C, it should be 1.1%(RPI).
Section A/B should be 0.5%(CPI). I never understand why the different pension schemes in RM have different rates of inflation increases and why they use different indexes?

I'm not really sure why there's a difference in the index used, but there are other differences too!

Aswell as the generally higher RPI increases, Section C had a better accrual rate of 1/60ths as opposed to 1/80ths with section A/B.
But C'ers have their pensionable pay reduced by the LED. :thumbdown

But going back to the original subject of this thread, I think it's ridiculous that people seem to be chasing up basic things that should be issued correctly and on time as standard!

Another example of the shambles that is RM pensions, and Capita in particular. :thumbdown

The reason why Section C stayed on RPI is because that is the index stated in its rules. Section A/B used to be RPI up to 2009. But the Government changed the public pensions from RPI to CPI that year. And Section A/B used the same rules as the public pensions. However it will only be a matter of time before Section C goes to either CPI or CPHI when they finally scrap RPI!

No Pension Increase letter as of 17th May, no update on RMSPS Portal. Automated message at RMSPS says letters will be with you by 8th May due to delays but further delays due to Covid and postal deliveries in some areas but yet RMPP correspondence arrives with no delays

I chased up my unanswered e mail, missing increase and lack of promised correspondence by phone on 10th May. The person receiving the call didn't seem to know what they were talking about, said she would flag it up to the relevant department and ended up saying I would receive a letter or e mail resolving my query. Over a week later, nothing. Back on the phone tomorrow, ready to enact the complaints procedure. This sort of thing , as Robert said above, should be done automatically. Sheffield did it with the other part of my pension, no problem. No wonder Private Eye refer to them as Crapita.

Lack of response to enquiries is very common with this bunch. I’ve recently had the misfortune to contact them and their response was “ they couldn’t find me on their system with the information that I supplied”.( name, d.o.b and Pension number).

I phoned RMSPS today as my Pension Pay Slip for May that I can now see on the Portal has not been increased. First they said as I took my Pension in January I would only receive a smaller payment or no payment at all, I told them I took my Pension in January 2020 some 16 months ago and not January just past. I explained that RMPP have informed me of a 1.1% increase and it has been added this month. I was put on hold to then be told they didn’t know why I received no Pension increase this month but could confirm that’s why I got no letter of an increase  . The non payment has now been escalated to another department and I will receive a reply within the next 7 to 10 days.

Update... I phoned RMSPS today as it’s just over 2 weeks since I last phoned. My RMSPS Portal was updated yesterday with a letter on it saying Pensions Increase 2021 but there is no information on it  Still no explanation as to why my pension was not automatically increased by 1.1% for section c members. Helpful lady on the phone told me it was passed onto a department on 20th May but today will escalate this again

I suggest you also contact the CEO of Capita Jonathan.Lewis@capita.co and bring it to his attention! While I was trying to get my supplement added to my Section C pension after I left RM I was fobbed off by the people I spoke to. But the CEO sorted it out in 48 hours! I too never got my RMSPS letter or P60 from Capita. But did get the increase unlike you. And can at least view my letter on the Portal now.
