Hello
A special delivery (guaranteed 1pm) parcel was sent to me yesterday morning from Wolverhampton to Plymouth. As it's currently nearly half 1, I checked the tracking to find my item is currently in Southampton!
I'm not sure how/why this has happened (I used to work at MDEC and PLx doesn't resemble SOx). Plus, according to my tracking history, the item *was* dispatched to Plymouth MC last night at 9pm but somehow arrived at Southampton MC at 5:21am. Can I expect my item tomorrow? The tracking says it's currently "due to leave Southampton MC to go to Plymouth MC".
This is the first time this has happened to me and I'm a little concerned so any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Kind regards,
Kane

Re: Special delivery item in wrong sorting office?
For the record, the parcel arrived this morning. The tracking isn't 100% clear (naturally) but it wasn't in Southampton long before being re-routed to Plymouth, so I'm assuming one of the sorters noticed the mistake before it ended up undeliverable lol.
Does this happen often with SD 1pm parcels? Do RM still maintain the guarantee during the Covid crisis?
Either way, I'm just happy my £100 parcel wasn't lost in the post!

Re: Special delivery item in wrong sorting office?
I have had one go to completely the wrong town before, and we have seen a few more examples on this site. They usually end up at the right address on the next working day.
SD is the most reliable product in the industry, but even it gets misrouted some times.

Re: Special delivery item in wrong sorting office?
This kind of occurrence is extremely low, about 0.0005% in my office and the sender can claim back their postage costs.

All's well that ends well, I suppose. I informed the sender and I don't believe he's taking any action and I'm just relieved that this is rare enough to not worry about.
Even though I'm just a customer now I'd still take RM over any of the other services any day.
