I got a message saying delivered but that was not true as it simply wasn’t even stranger I contacted Royal Mail they said this is strange they not only don’t deliver Easter Sunday not the day before or after.
They then added we don’t deliver after 6pm.
They then said an investigation was in process, on further asking I found out they contacted my depo but it wasn’t even my local depo it was “delivered” by. Another towns Royal Mail which only cover that area not my area.
I feel sorry for myself but also the sender. The value is higher than the compensation.

Most likely the parcel is sat in the othe other delivery offices office and who ever was doing indoor work scanned it as delivered in error.

Is it something that's come from abroad? If so, there might be a customs charge, which would account for the delivered scan

Without a tracking number or the tracking list (full) it's impossible to say what happened, having said that if you did post the tracking number it would give us a better chance to work out a possible scenario, but that's not certain either.

That looks like what we call a LAT delivery. Only certain Offices do them and they cover a wider area than they normally do.
Are the town you live in and Lichfield DO fairly local to each other. Even if it is a LAT (or not) there are a number of possibilities.
1. Wrong address on the parcel.
2. Royal Mail misdelivered to a similar address.
3. The sender gave you the wrong tracking number.
4. The least likely is that its part of a scam, however, the tracking output does not look like a typical scam.

We occasionally get RM deliveries at very odd hours, including after 18:00 and once on a Sunday (after getting no mail for the previous 3 days).
If it was delivered in the wrong postal town, I.e. you don’t live in Lichfield, then I would suggest that the sender put the wrong address on the item, and the other issue is not relevant to you.
If this is something you bought online then you need to claim from the seller.
