1 month at LANGLEY HWDC?!

New to the forum here

I posted an item on 23rd February to Australia.
Last update on track and track was 24th Feb which said 'Item Leaving the UK-LANGLEY HWDC' and 'Your item has left the UK and is now on its way to the destination country'.
It's been a month and the item hasn't even arrived in Australia.
Could anyone advise? has the item been lost?

That tracking indicates that it is probably in Australian customs, which are very strict. What did you send?

Yeah, I realised now I only sent it by international signed and not tracked, which only tracks up until the UK so I assume it's in customs in Australia.
I sent a louis vuitton bag, but I ticked it as a gift and wrote 'birthday present- bag'.
Do you think this will be ok? It's not made out of any exotic materials or anything like that. Although i did put the value as £250 as that was the max compensation allowed with RM international...

Yes, but it likely wouldn't have hit another tracking point between leaving Langley and clearing customs even if you used tracked.

There is no link between the compensation and the customs form: just state what it is worth. You seem to have volunteered to pay extra tax.

No, it's not made of leather. There's a tiny bit of a leather tab but mostly its a canvas material so its cloth+PVC.

In most countries the tax you pay is based on what you declare on the CN22 / CN23 customs form. So if the item is worth less than £250 then you may have caused the Australian authorities to levy more tax than you should rightfully pay.

I don't know the ins and outs of the Australian system specifically, I am just using general principles.

Australia are very strict on importing items, if they prohibit leather then its possible that they won't let it into the country even if its "just a tiny piece"
