Package in transit for almost 3 months

Post by Blu3P3nny »

Hello Everyone.

I bought an item from a seller in UK and he sent it on the 18 January 2021 to my country. The problem is that the item is still in transit after almost 3 months and I was thinking that maybe I get can some help here to understand what is going on.

I fully understand that there will be delays in delivery, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but how can a package be in transit for almost 3 months and still counting.

Also, the Tracking Number is RU750125118GB. When I checked it, I found out that it has returned to UK after a little bit more than 2 months in transit and they are re-sending it. I am really confused! Why was it not delivered the first time? There is no blockage here in my country and the Post is receiving letters-parcels without any issues.

Furthermore, how do I even know that it is going to get delivered after they re-sent it. Will it not remain in transit for another 2 months or maybe more?

Any advice/help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

What's the contents?

Given that there's no scans by your local postal service, it makes me think that possibly it's been refused entry by your local customs

Hi SpacePhoenix.

Thanks for the reply.

I am a philatelist and it contains only a collection of old stamps.

Please note that I buy stamps for collection regularly from UK sellers, and they have NEVER been refused entry by customs services in my country.

According to https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... t-bulletin Mauritius has had issues since January with reduced flights in, and since early march with a national lockdown and reduced postal services. My guess is that it never left the UK because of the reduced flights, and is currently delayed because of the lockdown
Update: 6 April 2021
Mauritius Post has updated that the Government of Mauritius has extended the current lockdown until 30 April 2021. During this lockdown, postal services will be limited to the payment of pensions to senior citizens until 10 April. All postal activities will resume from 12 April while complying with quarantine restrictions. The processing and delivery of all mail types will continue to be affected, and Mauritius Post is unable to guarantee compliance with the agreed standards.

Update: 24 March 2021
Mauritius Post has updated that the Government of Mauritius has announced an extension to the current national lockdown until 30 March 2021. All post offices and international mail processing centres are closed. As a result, the processing of all inbound and outbound mail, mail delivery, as well as the timely provision of EDI messaging updates and responses to online customer inquiries will continue to be affected. Force Majeure remains in place until further notice, with an impact on quality of service for all types of mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items).

Update: 10 March 2021
Mauritius Post has updated that the Government have announced a new national lockdown from 10 to 25 March 2021 to fight the resurgence of COVID-19. Under the lockdown, only essential services will remain open with Post offices being closed. The processing and delivery of all mail types will continue to be affected.Mauritius Post is unable to meet agreed standards, with Force Majeure remaining in place until further notice.

Update: 8 January 2021
Mauritius Post has advised that inbound international mail services are operating normally.

However, as only a few airlines have resumed their operations, Mauritius Post is still unable to guarantee service standards for inbound and outbound mail. Force majeure remains in place until further notice.
