"Your item is now leaving the UK" Not updating, please help?!

Hello, I sent off a small parcel internationally on Friday the 26th of March to Portugal everything was going fine and updating smoothly, now all tracking has stopped. I paid for the parcel to be tracked but nothing has changed since Saturday morning. It just says "Your item is now leaving the UK. More information will be available when it arrives in the destination country." I've checked on the delivery partner website and it says it's still in Langley? Is there any reason why the tracking hasn't been updated yet? It was just a small wallet and a birthday card that I sent. The tracking number is: LB311375648GB. I hope someone can help me as I'm very concerned about this, thanks.

This is standard tracking when an item has to proceed through customs, especially since Brexit. There are currently delays at Customs mainly because of Covid prevention and reduced flights.

To be frank no movement since Friday is fairly normal in the current climate, but hopefully, you checked before sending to make sure that the items were okay to send to Portugal. Some countries ban items made from certain materials, if customs suspect your item is a restricted to prohibited item this will delay it whilst they investigate it.

I did check on the international bulletin for any delays sending to Portugal and it states "Items are leaving the UK on time and accepted in country" so I would presume there wouldn't be any delays.

The only thing I sent was a wallet, not real leather and a birthday card so I wouldn't think this would be prohibited or anything as I have had a check and don't see this listed as a problem. If it needed to be investigated would I have an update or anything about it? and would the package need to be opened? as im worried it won't be properly sealed after and could become damaged.

It's likely your parcel is in Portugal Customs, waiting for them to clear the item. Tracking won't show any update until it has cleared this stage and been passed to the postal service there.

Portugal prohibit the sending of goods made from leather. So if you just wrote "wallet" on the customs form, and not what it is made from, there is a good chance they will want to stop the package and open it to check what it is made from.

Does this mean it's passed customs? and it should now carry on smoothly?

Yes, it's left customs.

It should in normal times carry on smoothly, but we are not yet in normal times, there may be delays even now.
