No Pension changes in the Budget

Post by NorthernBoy »

From what I can see there appears no major changes to pension tax relief or salary sacrifice schemes

There is a freezing of the lifetime allowance, which is unlikely to affect people on here or if it does it is “a nice problem to have”. The personal allowance has also been frozen for 5 years.

My pension plan remains the same: (ex RM deferred member plan c)

Current age 50, plan to retire sometime between 57-60 if possible.

- I will keep paying as much as I can into my works salary sacrifice pension (dc scheme)
- Pay as much as I can into my separate sipp.
- Not overpay any of my mortgage which has another 14 years to run.

If I have enough at 57 I will draw down my 2 pensions above and then from 60 draw my Rm pensions both 60 and 65. This should be enough until sp at 67/68.

My partner is a lot younger than me and has little pension provision, I am encouraging her to save as much she can but she is part time and low wage like myself.
