PLEASE ADVISE - 2nd class signed for not scanned!

Post by Ben_LDL »

I fear I may have made a mistake in giving an item straight to a postman without getting it scanned by the post office. I have done this before but never for tracked items. The item had a prepaid shipping label (2nd class signed for) so my question is will the tracking still work without having been scanned? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and put my mind at ease either way, thank you in advance.

Dont worry it will get scanned at the mail centre.

The information you have been given is incorrect. Mail Centres won't scan signed for items.

1st and 2nd Class signed for items are scanned at only 2 definite points.

1. On acceptance at the Post Office (Which is why its recommended to hand it over the counter).
2. When delivery is made, attempted or the item collected from a Customer Service Point.

The postie on his round as far as I am aware, has no ability to scan items as accepted. (for signed for items).

Ok so essentially this means I've negated the 'signed for' part and it's just a normal second class parcel?

It is on the indoor menu.
Enquiry office.
Acceptance scan.

No it should still get delivered with the postie signing XP1, for you have just missed the acceptance scan.
