Special Delivery stuck for a week

Hello everyone!
I posted an item last week on monday with Special Delivery and it has been stuck in Nantwich DO with status "Due to be delivered today by" for a week now. I tried to call the DO there but couldn't reach anyone there. Can you advise me what I can do next or tell me what could possibly the reason for this delay?

I read I can file a claim for the postage fee but it looks like I can only fill out a claim AFTER the delivery. The deadline to fill out the claim is 14 day after I send the item. What if the item was received AFTER the 14 day deadline? Can I still file a claim?

you can claim now, you will at least get the delivery costs back. The reason why is its failed its guarantee, if it is delivered it will in effect be free for you.

If you are on twitter you could try @royalmailhelp - Send them a generic tweet, then they'll ask for a DM with details of address going to and tracking number.

there is a slim chance that is been delivered without a scan, but that's unlikely.

I have a package that says it was despatched to Northern Ireland MC on monday 18th jan 2021 - it is 24h special guaranteed delivery 1pm should of been here yesterday- the tracking hasnt updated since 9pm Monday night - can someone help?

Unless you are in Northern Ireland the only time they will send an item there is if there are questions over safety, or the address label has been damaged and they will try to find out where it was meant to go, or to return it to the sender.

As suggested before twitter @royalmailhelp may be able to provide more information - though they are busy as well.

Might be worth setting up a temporary twitter account, otherwise the only way to get an official response is to call their customer service, however, its horrible and can take hours to get through to speak to a human.

Beyond that you could contact the sender if they are a business and let them deal with Royal Mail. In fact if they have a business account they will usually have a direct business contact at Royal Mail.

You should have had it by now, and only Magherafelt in the BT postcode area is having publicly announced problems with Covid viewtopic.php?f=72&t=98468&start=30 . The sender will be able to claim at a minimum the postage back.
