Mandatory mask wearing

Post by frankieboy »

Can someone explain to me why mandatory wearing of masks is still not being enforced in all offices. Definition of mandatory means required by law and compulsory. Yet in our office only about 50% are wearing them, why are managers and reps not enforcing this rule? I know some people are exempt I get that but a lot are just flouting it. Who can I contact to voice my concerns other than manager or rep. At the 1st lockdown people were moaning about not having enough protection now they just don't care.

I think you will find mandatory means something entirely different in Royal Mail  , Trolleys are supposed to be mandatory and how many offices actually use them? :hmmmm
Also it's up to the managers and NOT reps to police the wearing of masks, reps can remind people to use them but can't impose any action under conduct etc.
If your that arsed you should be contacting your local or area Health and Safety rep about your concerns , or if you really want to cause a stink the Health and Safety Executive of your local area.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09

" if your that arsed" , just the kind of response I was expecting.

"If you're quite concerned..." is the more appropriate response. :thumbup And being conscientious about this facemask matter in the Royal Mail offices is sensible.

HSE it is then, and I hope individuals from others offices who have concerns do exactly the same as me and " be arsed" to do something.

I know of a colleague that has used the HSE on-line form where one can anonymously report breaches of Covid work practices at an office I visit. Probably doesn’t take much more time to do than expressing concerns on this forum, and hopefully will have some result ! If you’re concerned about your health and feel that those around you are putting you at risk, the last few months have proved that waiting for RM or CWU to act is a waste of time.

Grass! Seriously I would, peoples lives are at risk.
Local HSE people.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Only if they don't inform local management they are paying a visit...
