Re: Brexit
Take the chip off your shoulder.
It's one man's experience and opinion.
It's an interesting read whether you agree with it or not.

Re: Brexit
Is it?
Seems like just another over-wrought Remainer-whinge written for the US market to me

Re: Brexit
To you it does but yours is only one perspective.
I don't know you obviously Tman but I doubt you've had the kind of depth of experience the author has.

Re: Brexit
The question still remains, what is the relevance of the man's experience to Brexit ?
In current context, it does look like a Remainer whinge about Brexit.

Re: Brexit
Really?
Have you even read the thing.
He's not even a "remainer", he's an EU citizen.
Not that the term remainer has any meaning anymore, as has been pointed out to you already it's impossible to remain somewhere when you've already left.
The desperation to hold onto tribal terms like that shows that for many people like yourself it's more about continuing an angry and bitter personal crusade against people with different views than what was supposed to be the purpose of the Brexit referendum, leaving the EU.
That continued searching for a fight in a battle that's over gives credence to the often denied assertion that Brexit for many people was just an excuse to exercise their bigotry and xenophobia muscles behind a thin veneer of respectability. As we move forward it's important to understand that this shield has now gone and all that's left is the ugly truth again.
The original piece is a lament to changing times and attitudes in the UK, it isn't an attempt to remain anywhere.
It's over, get over it

I have read the whole thing, I still find it disingenuous to link the escaping Nazis with Brexit, they are two completely different things.
Re my BOLDS
This is still a Remoaner/Remain sniping against Brexiters.
Notice how they use terms like
Bigot
Xenophobic
Bitter angry crusade against those who holds different views
Look in the mirror !
That's exactly how Remain conducted themselves and this lost the whole referendum and the General Election which is effectively a second referendum, yet the sniping goes on in spite of the fact as you say it's over, get over it
I have hard time believing that, remainers have now become Rejoiners, they are still bitter that they lost.
Until you actually do "get over it" it will still linger and pointless anecdotes and allegories will be posted as veiled way of getting back at Brexiters in self inflicted pointless act of picking at weeping sores.

Re: Brexit
The anger and bile pours out of your posts like pus from an infected wound.
It's something you should probably seek medical help for.
People will lament what they consider poor decisions, people like yourself have been complaining about Europe for 40+ years.
If that's going to cause you continued pain you're in for a difficult 40+ years.

As I said before I voted to leave the political insitution of the EU, not Europe, anyone who has experienced Britain before EFTA 1960 or EEC 1973 won't have noticed much difference on the ground apart from decimalisation.
I have experienced life before the EEC, it holds no fear for me, however for you, you need to grow a pair and stop hiding behind the curtain of the EU.
How can it difficult when we have already achieved a trade deal, both the UK and the EU got what they wanted, the EU don't really care about Remainers, they are considered "useful idiots", the EU already has cut you loose, you have no special rights or privilege in exchange for supporting the EU.
That's the EU's true face, preservation of the political edifice (and gravy train) is more important than keeping the UK.
