Hello RM workers,
Please kindly assist. I had expected an item to be delivered 15 December 2020, however it was declined by the local shop (selected for convenience, how wrong was i!) as the parcel did not have a specific code (not written by sender).
So, since 15 December it is still showing as the following:
Tracking no. VE551952450GB
Sorry, we were unable to deliver this item at 15-12-2020 as the recipient refused to accept it. It will now be returned to the sender.
Service used:
Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed 1pm™
Please contact the sender for queries.

I have visited the local DO with no success, contacted customer services too, who couldn't help. They did say it should have been returned by now. The parcel did have a return address on it.
Am I to presume it's lost?
I look forward to your guidance on what to do.
Best wishes and Happy New Year.

No its probably not lost, during busy times anything that has had its service (as in delivery attempted) but is refused will not be treated the same way. In the lead up to Christmas there were capacity issues so its possible its made it to a mail centre - but has not yet been processed by them. Once the mail centre is caught up, or when it is returned to the sender then tracking will update.

Re: Where is my item- help greatly appreciated
Hi. So the plot thickens. The item has been sent to the National Sorting Office in Belfast. Why would it be sent there? The business that sent it to me had assured me the return address was on the parcel
What can I do now to reclaim this parcel?

It isn't on there now. RM won't waste on time and effort of sending it to the National Returns Centre if there is a return address on there already, unless the contents are covered by the Dangerous Goods act. So either the return address wasn't on there or the label fell off.
You need to make a claim with the seller.

Re: Where is my item- help greatly appreciated
H there,
I have the following question, the item I sold it is been returned to me at least that what I'm seeing from the tracking information on the 5th of January 2021 but still I have not received it and it was sent 1st signed! I saw they use the same service for returning as the one I used! Is this delay normal I just do not if I can check If they keep my parcel somewhere still as it just says Returned to sender?
I will appreciate your assistance!
Regards Yulian

Re: Where is my item- help greatly appreciated
Returned to sender on tracking just means that was the last scan. The next one is the delivery to sender attempt scan.
However, as the paid-for service has been fulfilled, and the return service is not treated with the same urgency and covid, causing chaos in deliveries, the actual return to you could take some time.
