I was gonna say exactly that. If someone is rude and cant appreciate that you were trying to deliver a perishable item. This address would be blacklisted and I would go as far as just scanning parcel on the door step and and post quietly pre written 739 through. Even if they complain you didnt knock if there is no cctv footage to back it up its their word against yours.

As far as im aware perishable items (flowers etc) can be left on the doorstep?

I had a customer (a rude, horrible woman) who yelled from her top floor window that just because her car is in the drive doesn't mean she's in and I shouldn't leave her parcel on the doorstep. I was furious.
The stupid woman didn't realise I put the parcel (a perishable item) on the doorstep and walked halfway up her path waiting to see any sign that someone was in. I saw her at the window so off I went and that's when she called me back to complain. I obviously saw her before she saw me.
Some people don't realise you see them in their house and know they are there or you hear them coming to the door so just leave the parcel and go.
You're meant to witness the parcel being taken in before confirming delivery on pda, not just leave it on the doorstep assuming that someone will take it in, even if you have seen them at the window.

Many people just give you a thumbs up or similar through the window though. Seem to get really upset when I insist they open the door for specials or signed for items.

I hope we get the same kind of appreciation from our customers that this wonderful UPS driver got from his...

CBS 6 News (Dec. 18, 2020) ~ Neighbors Surprise Kind UPS Driver With Emotional 'Thank You'
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Even though his truck does not have sirens and his uniform does not offer added fire protection, Anthony Gaskin is considered a hero in the Hallsley neighborhood.

Gaskin is a driver for UPS and during the pandemic, his daily deliveries have been life-saving, both literally and figuratively, to the Midlothian neighbors.

No sign of it starting to ease off.

I'm f***ing frazzled to be honest. Job's nearly broken me this year.

Very calm one today, think they must have had trouble at the mail centre as the parcels were less than half of what they have been. Special everywhere, in the packets, in the oversize. Not sure what they must have been doing when they sorted them.

Priority has been parcels over letters for months, but I'm half expecting tomorrow to be the reverse.... "Get the duty frame and IPS clear of cards at all cost" and leave the parcels for next week.

Think there's more chance of winning the lottery than having a normal light Xmas Eve, as much as I hope I'm wrong.

Christmas cards have already dropped off, sequencing batches are very near pre-xmas sizes

Soaked through all day up here, had the pain of the pda playing up all duty because of it as well.
