Negotiators Agreement achieved

Post by Martin Walsh »

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a negotiators agreement with Royal Mail Group on pay, mutual benefit change, the future direction of the company and security for our members.

The CWU Postal Executive will now meet on Monday and Tuesday. If the agreement is endorsed, we will be in a position to communicate further details to all members.

Thank you as always for your support.

Well done to the CWU and no doubt it has been a tough road. Just hope the devil in the detail won’t be too much or too ambiguous going forward.

There’s a whole lot of celebration and backslapping on the union Facebook page about this. I would urge us all to Calm down until we see the details. “Mutual benefit change” sounds a bit ominous. See what next week brings.

No the Postal Executive meet Monday and Tuesday to debate the agreement and if they vote for the agreement than it is likely to be communicated either late Tuesday or Wednesday.

Well done Cwu whatever the deal sure they will have our best interests in mind , personally it’s never been about pay for me it’s been about a fair work load a day when you can walk into work and not have a daily battle with ur line manager.

Yeah thanks a lot, just think if you hadn't taken 9 months to reach an agreement, I might have had some back pay before I retired.

When I leave I'll make sure it's just after the back pay is paid. I think you should still get back pay for the time you were employed.

Any news on this economy mail product Martin and what’s the difference between it and dsa by the way, also has it been taken into account for our future working in these talks as surely it could impact our daily work load massively not having to go to loads of houses till they have anything worth going with, if it’s not been factored in then if it is at some point duty’s would need to be looked at again

Who knows, I know they can pay you money after your P45 as mine was week 36 and I had some ad hoc pay, they paid me this week 37 with emergency tax. So they can pay it, with tax paid.
Thanks for the kind comments.

Many of our office have been doing 5-6 hour deliveries for the best part of 9 months, compressing a weeks work into 4 days, some duties only going out twice a week. I'm not sure what difference, for the better, any new ways of working are going to make. Unless, as usual, any new methods are trialed in a utopian DO, that is fully staffed, back working 2 in a van, has already sub 4 hour deliveries which are all easily reachable from the office, and could easily go down to a 36 hour week.
