Re: release rm proposal
I am sick to my eye teeth of being told about how lucky I am to work for RM with the terms and conditions that I have.
The fact that non unionised companies exploit their employees is why we pay our subs into our union. We, the membership have bought our terms and conditions with our subs and our commitment to our union. The vast majority of the rank and file that I know see Pullinger and Ward as ineffectual tub thumping windbags. To then find out that Pullinger receives recompense of over £2000 per week and Ward is recompensed by the better part of £3000 per week rubs salt into the wounds. This is not envy. People who receive the salaries that they receive are judged on the value and results that they bring to the organisation that employs them. In their case our union. Given that they have been in their exalted roles in our union since 2015 perhaps you could enlighten everyone as to why our pensionable pay is now higher than our actual pay?
The membership of our union carry their salaries on our backs and as such have every right to question their effectiveness.

Re: release rm proposal
My question to you was..... why is our pensionable pay higher than our actual pay? I already know the answer but was wondering whether you did given your liberal use of “facts” such as.......Post deleted as OPs request
“95% of working class jobs are paid the minimum wage”. ..... wrong. According to an August 2019 TUC study, jobs that earn less than 75% of the median wage in 2018 (£9.60/£12.70) totalled 7.1 million out of 26.4 million. £9.60 is above the minimum wage and when I went to school 7.1 as a percentage of 26.4 was less than 27%.
“Amazon, they pay £15 per day”..... which I presume you mean £15 per hour. Amazon pay their warehouse staff between £9 and £10.50 per hour. They are notoriously anti union and have been described by the TUC as “top predator”.
Since 2014 our pensionable pay has risen by the RPI figure for September the previous year. Therefore, if our actual pay is below our pensionable pay, which it is, our actual pay has not kept pace with inflation. Which, in real terms means that we are paid less now than we were in 2015. Who has been at the helm of the union since 2015? Well none other than our very own comedy duo of Terry and Dave.
I don’t need any lessons in how to support our union, thanks. I have been a member of it since the day I started with RM in 1985. I certainly will be voting on the offer when our leadership see fit to put it before us...... but we all know that won’t be this year. The one thing that is dividing the membership of this union is the total lack of communication from the leadership. It leads to suspicion....... yet another crock of s***e wrapped up as the deal of the century. I don’t feel sorry for myself...... quite the contrary....... I’m f*****g furious!
The irony of it all is that it is the CWU that cannot live up to the first letter of its own name.

Re: release rm proposal
“We need them as highly skilled negotiators”........... are you having a laugh? Their skills have negotiated a real terms pay cut for the people that pay their wages in the last 5 years........ in which time they have trousered well over £1,000,000 between them.

Lol you can scream come on the union until your blue in the face. It’s not going to make Ward and Pullinger turn into competent intelligent negotiators. We are screwed with these at the top.Yamr1 wrote: ↑13 Dec 2020, 08:22Solidarity troops

Re: release rm proposal
My view of a trade union is you use your collective strength to protect the weakest.
You circle your wagons and protect the most vulnerable.
Th reality is the CWU circles their wagons and protects their privileges. The most vulnerable (part time staff) get thrown to the wolves time and time again. It is anti trade unionism.
Don't divide us? The system of apartheid that exists in DOs up and down the land is a product of the CWU focus on protecting full time jobs.
The more I read your sycophantic drivel the less I want to be a member of the CWU.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: release rm proposal
The whole problem with the CWU is mirrored by Royal Mail they cannot communicate with their members or staff and are doomed to failure by lack of communication!

Re: release rm proposal
but yet staff are being run into the ground due to workload and i see yet again you mention pay deal ? , this dispute wasnt about a pay dealMartin Walsh wrote: ↑11 Dec 2020, 19:25You only pull out of talks if you think that is going to get you somewhere.
Otherwise all it does it means your still not got a resolution to pay or the other issues we have to resolve.
The judgement is that we have made real progress , we have two good pay deals on the table , however there remains issues unresolved which further negotiations are needed. I think we will get there but nothing is guaranteed.
Remember for Royal Mail to offer a 2 year pay deal/ SWW that is worth a few hundred million , they want to ensure that the agreement helps them fund that pay deal.

Re: release rm proposal
I wouldn't rely on the union to lighten the workload they seem hellbent on increasing it to guarantee full time jobs to the detriment of the delivery staff with absolutely no plan on either side to come up with any solutions . surely the 1st port of call would be separate the larger shoe box size and above be removed from letter deliveries asap after the new year as can see a lot of clashes ahead when managers are told to implement clear office policies which is not hapnin on the letter side of it as they don't give s**t about them at the minute
