Easiest day I have had in a couple of weeks, even bits of some of the jobs that haven’t been out for a week went.

I didn't sleep well the other night. That's because I was awoken three times by excruciating cramp in my legs.

Each time it came I had to relax my legs in a position where the cramp would pass.

That's how much work I've been inundated with lately. Heavy parcels up and down stairways.

If it gets any busier we won't cope
Too late for that at ours now it’s too far gone after 3 days of not clearing parcels, be the new year till it’s clear as the pile will just keep getting bigger. That’s unless they can get 30 or 40 parcel drivers on the sundays but I think only 3 people have volunteered.
For £2/hr more, what a surprise. Everyone are on their last legs anyway.

If our DO didn't have enough people willing to stay extra with a couple of full time packet drivers it would have had already collapsed. There are packet drivers and there are some people coming back to top up their oversized. Madness. Overtime bill for period from 23rd nov to 24th december will surely be bigger than all summer months together.
I'm doing 7 days worth in 5 ....and still not clearing every day. Many more the same.

Half our walks in the office are fully staffed, with extra help for parcels 6 out of 6 days Mon-Sat. They are cruising through this. Ghost O/T galore.
The rest are lucky to be staffed 3-4 times a week out of 6, with no parcel assistance and are expected to somehow manage.

Right then,

I really don't quite understand what this YouTuber's motive is, apart from being a massive pillock.

Currently doing parcels as an Xmas driver down south. Spoke with an argos driver yesterday. He was devastated he had to do 40 drops. Said it was busiest he's ever seen it? Told him I had about 180 drops?? He told me how organised argos is down to the loading of the van, even his pda guides him round?

How come a company like RM are so far behind the competition. We must be the biggest delivery company in the UK and its like we're fixing the Titanic with sheets of paper, its ridiculous. We have to write down our deliveries or try and remember them? When it comes to progress we are such a slooooooooow company.

I’ve thought that for a long time. We are so behind the times it’s unreal.

A truck turns up at your sorting office - a york of parcels is unloaded, the parcels are sorted by hand, you take your parcels out of the sack/trolley, you go through them, you put the large ones onto a york, you push the york to your van, you load it into your van. There’s so much duplication.

I know other couriers don’t have to deal with letters and D2Ds as well but it doesn’t mean we can’t modernise the packet process. In another couriers depots a truck backs up, the loose load of packets in the back is tipped onto a conveyor belt which automatically scans the parcels as they travel down the belt which then nudges it to the right area.

The technology is there - just look at some of the machines used in the food industry - but we are faffing about with paper lists or trying to remember everything in the back of the van.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

As far as I remember parcelforce colleagues have similar system. Geo-plan route planner who prints all your scanned parcels in an order and you just follow the plan. Of course it is not perfect so area knowledge is still extremely important to correct some errors it can make but it speeds up preparing your delivery massively.

Do you not have the option on your PDA to scan all the intended parcel delivery barcodes which then puts them in a route just like the Argos driver? We have been using this set-up for the agency staff and surprisingly it actually works!

Awful day today. Endless complaints from customers.

One guy asking about a P739d parcel yesterday, when the last time I set foot in this area was 8 months ago.

A woman moaning because an hour earlier I P739d her parcel then she came up to me sarcastically asking if she can have it (standard parcel so no safe place available, side gate locked anyway, and they were out).

Countless ‘where’s my parcel’ customers.

But the best was a boo hoo parcel which arrived in my york empty. I put it in a damaged bag and posted it through. Comes out after me asking why there’s nothing in it (I don’t know, I didn’t personally handle it all the way from boo hoo distribution centre to her house). Asks if it’s been stolen (I don’t know, see above). Why it’s in a damaged bag (because it’s damaged) and what to do next (all the info is on the damaged bag).
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
