Blimey....Looks like it might be worth badgering them a bit then....They can't keep using covid as an excuse

14 people in the office have taken their NRA60 in last 9 months, 4 who were turning 60 received their Pension and Lump Sums no more than 4 weeks after their 60th birthday.
The remaining 10 staff who were aged 55 to 58 received their monies late or very late, up to 3 months late. Covid-19 and delays with RMSPS reasons given.

I appiled 1st June 2020 for a payment date of 1st Nov 2020 (age 59 years and 10 months)
For me, apart from them saying I shouldn't have appiled more than five months in advance (I applied six months earlier), every thing went very smoothly.
My lumps sums were on time as was my first monthly payment.
I returned all the forms within days of receiving them (it is important to turn forms around with in the time frames, they indicate on the letters)
I have also heard of others having delays.
All I can say is, if you can apply 5 months in advance to get the ball rolling, return forms promptly by recorded delivery.
Do this even if you are taking get at your NRA dates and just tell them, you don't want it early, you just want to get the ball rolling.
17 weeks is the RMSPS published time frame (Capita)
Perhaps I was just lucky, but I could almost put my feet up after my final letter and phone call, where I was told every thing was set up and ready to go for the 1st Nov. My final payment letter was on the 18th August 2020 (RMPP) and 7th Sept 2020 from RMSPS (Capita).
The latter you leave it, the more chance of delay.

If you have retired when you write to them can you actually request a "not before" date? My birthday is in April before the new tax year so I would want payment after 6th April so I have £12500 before tax.

I told them the date I wanted my pension from. The 1st Nov and that is when my payment was from.
Lump sum 2nd Nov (Mon) and pensions on the 30th.
Just specify a date.

I was told..I couldn't apply before 3 Months before payment...I said, well it's only a week before the 3 months...I am getting a bit rattled that I haven't received any forms yet! Would it be worth ringing them up and telling them to get a move on? They said that there was a lot of people applying for their pension right now...Felt like saying, that's not my problem.

they are talking rubbish, I appiled 6 months in advance, they said it should be no more than five months, but still processed me.
Ring back and ask again for them to start the ball rolling with a quote and don't mention you have already rung them.

Never ever take the first person you ring up, if you don't like the answer. Although the fear is that you will get the same person the next time you call!

I asked for a quote back in February for payment in a June and then the pandemic appeared so I left it. I was then hospitalised ( non-Covid) and sick for three months but am now fully back to work. I recently rang and they said just send back the original appendix and the figures will be altered. I did this and enclosed a covering letter only to receive a reply that my claim can’t be processed as June is now past.
They have set a new date for February.

Does anyone know how to work out the yearly reduced pension if you don't want to take the maximum 25% lump sum figure they have quoted? for example if say they quoted lump sum of £31,000 and pension of £7000....Say if you only wanted to take £20,000, how do you work out the new figure? ...also, guessing that yearly figure they give us is then taxed?

What are your actual figures for

Full pension = and no lump sum
Reduced pension = and 25% lump sum =

If you give these figures it’s easy to work out any other combination.

Your pension is taxed, but if your yearly income is below 12.5k there will no tax to pay.

@Northernboy ....Thanks for your reply- I looked at those figures but couldn't work it out, and I don't want to keep ringing them. This way I could tweek it to monthly payment I want.
