Post and parcels stolen from delivery vans in Bournemouth

A SPATE of thefts of Christmas post and parcels from delivery vans have taken place across Bournemouth.

Dorset Police are investigating after two bags of mail were stolen from a Royal Mail van parked in Abbott Road at 1.45pm on Thursday, November 26.

The mail was later discovered after being set on fire and destroyed in Harewood Avenue.

Police say the van driver was alerted by a man who cycled by, who said he saw the theft take place.

A woman also approached the van driver and said she saw what had happened as well.

Now police would like to speak to these two witnesses as a matter of urgency.

Then, around 7.55pm the following day a number a parcels were stolen from an Argos delivery van in Heaton Road.

It was also reported that at 12.20pm on Saturday, November 28, more parcels were stolen from a DPD delivery van in Broadway Lane.

During each of the three incidents a white car was seen in the area.

Police community support investigator Paul Bosley said: “Our investigation into these incidents remains ongoing.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed any of the incidents and has yet to speak to officers to please contact Dorset Police.

"I am particularly keen to speak to the man and woman who spoke to the victim to the Royal Mail van theft as I am aware they may have important information that could assist my investigation."

A 15-year-old boy and two men aged 23 and 24 – all from Bournemouth – have been arrested on suspicion of theft and have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
